ROYAL OAK, MI, April 30, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bishop, Dr. D.L. Teamor has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Dr. Teamor is a distinguished leader and advocate, serving as the executive director of Calvary House Military Support since 2009. In this role, she has dedicated herself to finding spaces to assist others, particularly veterans, by establishing partnerships with organizations like United Way to provide support for those at risk of suicide. Her commitment to service extends to her position as senior pastor at Mount Olive Multicultural Community Church, a congregation founded by her father, where she has been leading since 2007.
Dr. Teamor's career began at IBM, where she made history as the youngest regional operations coordinator at 21, managing five states from 1994 to 1996. She then transitioned to Achip Technologies Inc., where she served as product manager and field marketing director from 1996 to 1999. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to Detroit Public Schools, where she managed the IMT Entrepreneurship Program from 2002 to 2009, fostering innovation and leadership among students.
In addition to her professional roles, Dr. Teamor is an accomplished author and has been a ghostwriter with Dzata Publishing since 2005. Her literary works primarily focus on Christian and historical fiction, and she is currently working on a biography of a woman who served as a cosmetologist and beautician for Motown artists and provided those same services in the modern film industry. Dr. Teamor's creative endeavors also include singing; she used to perform the national anthem for the National Hockey Association Junior League and released a gospel CD with the Victory In Praise Choir group.
Dr. Teamor's educational background is extensive and diverse. She earned a Doctor of Theology in systematic theology from the Newburgh Theological Seminary in 2009. By1999, she had completed two degrees at Hamilton College: a Doctor of Philosophy in business marketing and a Master of Business Administration. Her academic journey began with an Associate of Arts in liberal arts from Oakland Community College in 1994, followed by a Bachelor of Science in business administration from William Tyndale College in 1996. Additionally, she became a licensed minister in 2001 and an ordained minister in 2002. These achievements have equipped her with the knowledge and skills necessary for her multifaceted career.
Dr. Teamor's dedication to service is further exemplified through her involvement with various organizations such as American Baptist Churches USA, where she serves on the regional board, Optimist International, Detroit Youth Overcoming Challenges, SkillsUSA, the Detroit Executive Service Corps, and the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce. Her contributions have been recognized with accolades from Who's Who Among American Teachers and several awards from SkillsUSA, the Birmingham Public School District, the Southfield Public School District, the Detroit Association of Black Social Workers, the Detroit Executive Service Corps, the Detroit Public Schools Community District, and IBM.
Dr. Teamor's most notable achievement is the strong relationships she has built over the years. Many of her former students remain in contact with her, and some even call her "Mom." She has had the privilege of performing weddings and becoming a godmother to some of their children. Many of her students ask her for advice before making important decisions, which she considers an honor.
Additionally, Dr. Teamor takes great pride in her service to veterans. One story that stands out to her involves a veteran family that lost their home to a fire. The family had two young children with another on the way. In response, Dr. Teamor and Calvary House organized an event called "CamoFabulous," where local designers created clothing from camouflage and military-inspired materials. Participants from the Modeling School of Barbizon helped model the clothing, while others provided hair and makeup services. The most memorable aspect of the event was when the National Guard arrived. Although Dr. Teamor was there to assist them, the Guard Soldiers surprised her by presenting her with various honors and awards. She was genuinely astonished, as she had never expected any recognition. They awarded her a challenge coin, explaining that in the history of their unit, they had only given out three, making her the fourth recipient.
Looking ahead, Dr. Teamor envisions her church becoming a premier online community that demonstrates to others how to build connections beyond the traditional church setting, serving as a model for those seeking to establish similar communities. She is also committed to supporting as many veterans and their families as possible through a program her organization is currently developing called "RVs for Vets." Their goal is to secure grants to renovate and rebuild RVs, allowing veterans to stay at campgrounds that offer permanent residency. This will not only reduce homelessness among veterans, but it will also provide them with permanent addresses, which are required for accessing benefits. Additionally, Dr. Teamor intends to continue an existing program, "Vet Pets," expanding this initiative across the country.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Teamor was born in Southfield and is a devoted wife, mother to one son and one daughter, and grandmother of two grandsons. In her leisure time, she enjoys writing, singing, and watching boxing. She attributes her success to her understanding that her purpose is to help others. She recognizes that her journey is not about herself and that there is no single definition of success. Instead, individuals must create their own understanding of what success means for them.
