CHARLOTTE, NC, May 01, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sherif Abdelmageed Abdelrazek, PhD, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
As the co-founder and chief executive officer of Storlytics Energy Storage, Dr. Abdelrazek is a distinguished expert in energy storage infrastructure and renewable energy systems. Primarily a grid energy storage design software company, Storlytics was established to help renewable energy developers, utilities and more design cost-effective grid-tied energy storage systems by simplifying use-case specific battery technology optimization, and enabling accurate battery degradation forecasting for different use-cases on the electrical grid. In his role, he serves as an expert consultant for utilities, energy storage project financiers and private equity firms on microgrids, energy storage investments and new long duration energy storage technology evaluation. Under Dr. Abdelrazek's leadership, Storlytics has enabled the development of more than 2,500 MWhs of innovative energy storage projects, facilitating achievement of multiple utility carbon footprint reduction goals. Dr. Abdelrazek has successfully secured numerous patents throughout his career. In addition to his Storlytics software patent, he also secured a patent for a grid ancillary services uninterruptable power supply (UPS) that renders the technology cost effective for thousands of commercial and industrial facilities, underscoring his reputation for innovation in the energy industry.
In addition to his venture at Storlytics, Dr. Abdelrazek held several key roles at Duke Energy Corporation. From 2022 to 2024, he was the director of renewable engineering for energy storage and microgrids, where he led initiatives to integrate BESSs, microgrids and renewable energy solutions into existing infrastructure. Before that, he served as the renewable engineering manager from 2021 to 2022, focusing on optimizing large scale energy storage and microgrid solutions, enabling them to be cost-effective in improving electrical reliability of small towns. For instance, Dr. Abdelrazek designed Duke Energy's first large scale microgrid capable of providing back-up power for an entire town. This microgrid proved effective in providing back-up power to the more than 500 residents of the town of Hot Springs in the face of hurricane Helene which devastated Western North Carolina in 2024. As a lead engineer from 2019 to 2021, he played a pivotal role in advancing engineering projects within the company. His earlier tenure at Duke Energy included positions as a senior engineer from 2017 to 2019, engineer III from 2016 to 2017 and engineer II from 2015 to 2016.
Dr. Abdelrazek began his professional journey with roles outside of Duke Energy. From 2013 to 2015, he was a research assistant at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he would later return to develop an uninterrupted power supply that aids large manufacturers in offsetting minor power disruptions that greatly impact their operations.
Academically, Dr. Abdelrazek earned a PhD in grid applications of energy storage systems in 2015 and a Master of Science in electrical engineering in 2014, both from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He completed a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering with honors at Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt, in 2010, laying a strong foundation for his success in developing innovative solutions for energy storage systems.
To augment his knowledge and qualifications, Dr. Abdelrazek is certified as a professional engineer by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying and is a licensed engineer in North Carolina and Indiana. Additionally, he is an active member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, reflecting his dedication to staying connected with the latest industry advancements.
Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Abdelrazek has been involved in civic activities such as volunteering with the Egyptian Food Bank, demonstrating his commitment to giving back to the community. In his personal life, he is happily married, a proud father of two children, Youssef and Saba, and enjoys diving, traveling and playing racquetball.
In the coming years, Dr. Abdelrazek wants to help Storlytics grow and make a significant impact on the global energy industry. After achieving success with his company, he plans to dedicate his life to philanthropy, inspired by his parents' determination and their emphasis on making a positive impact on others' lives and the world.
