Her work in this role has allowed her to explore innovative management strategies and contribute significantly to the field. Prior to this, Dr. Honold served as president of the Woman's Club of Wisconsin from 2022 to 2024, where she demonstrated her leadership skills and commitment to community service.
From 2009 to 2013, Dr. Honold served as executive director of Wisconsin Voices, a nonprofit she founded to promote nonpartisan civic education and grassroots activism. The organization emerged from her work as chair of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin and reflects her belief in empowering communities through knowledge and participation rather than traditional campaigning. Under her leadership, Wisconsin Voices provided tools and training to help citizens understand democratic processes and engage in public life. Dr. Honold also identified the need for stronger civic education in local high schools, expanding the organization's reach and long-term impact.
Dr. Honold's tenure at Wisconsin Voices followed her role as executive director of Citizen Action of Wisconsin from 2006 to 2009, where she led initiatives focused on social justice and public policy reform. Earlier, she served as chair of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin from 2001 to 2005, deepening her dedication to civic engagement and organizational development.
Dr. Honold's professional journey began with her work as an organization development consultant at Empowerment Systems, Inc., a role she held from 1990 to 2005. Her expertise in organizational systems was further honed during her time as an organization development specialist at Johnsonville LLC, where she implemented innovative management strategies that later informed her doctoral research. Additionally, Dr. Honold served as the executive director of the American Cancer Society Inc., where she contributed to health advocacy and community outreach efforts.
A lifelong learner, Dr. Honold holds a PhD in human and organizational systems from Fielding Graduate University, earned in 1999. She later completed a postdoctoral fellowship in democracy and the civic sector at the same institution in 2018. Her academic background also includes a Master of Science in industrial relations from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Bachelor of Arts in political science with a minor in history from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Dr. Honold is dedicated to contributing to civic-minded organizations. She serves on the board of trustees for the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and holds the position of vice regent within the same organization, demonstrating her commitment to honoring the nation's heritage.
Looking ahead, Dr. Honold is passionate about inspiring others through public speaking engagements. She aims to share her personal story, which includes overcoming a challenging childhood, to motivate young girls from underserved communities. She is particularly focused on connecting with African American girls in Milwaukee who face economic hardships and educational challenges. By sharing both positive moments and challenges from her life, Dr. Honold hopes to demonstrate that success is attainable regardless of one's beginnings.
