With a career spanning over three decades, he has been instrumental in overseeing the management of wastewater facilities for more than 20 major cities across the U.S. Mr. Whitelaw's role involves ensuring that all information technology & SCADA systems are secure, operational and up to standard.

Beginning as a technical and systems architect, Mr. Whitelaw worked for Kingwood Cable & Security from 1990 to 1995. He then advanced to become a senior infrastructure and security architect at Halliburton in Houston, where he excelled until 2003. During his tenure at Halliburton, Mr. Whitelaw was pivotal in deploying infrastructure in war zones, supporting U.S. troops and military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

From 2003 to 2008, Mr. Whitelaw was a consulting infrastructure and security architect at KBR Inc., a science, technology and engineering solutions firm based in Houston. In 2008, he transitioned to LyondellBasell Industries Holdings B.V. as a professional security consultant until 2011. He then joined GSE Environmental as the vice president of information technology between 2011 and 2018. Mr. Whitelaw also briefly held the position of chief information officer at Solmax who acquired GSE Environmental from 2018 to 2019 before assuming his current role at Synagro Technologies Inc.

In addition to being a member of the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium since 2007, Mr. Whitelaw holds several certifications, making him highly qualified in his field. These include being a certified information systems security professional, Microsoft certified professional and certified NetWare administrator. His academic background also included coursework at Kingwood College.

Mr. Whitelaw's career is marked by significant achievements, such as designing and deploying support infrastructure for Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom and at various embassies. More recently, at Synagro, he assisted significantly in growing the company's EBITDA from $22 million to over $100 million, along with his former chief executive officer from GSE Environmental, Bob Preston. Beyond these achievements, Mr. Whitelaw's contributions have been recognized with several awards, including the Chief Information Security Officer of the World Award in 2024.

As he approaches the later stages of his career, Mr. Whitelaw remains focused on preparing his team for future success while making meaningful contributions personally and professionally each day.
