Dr. Shappley, a distinguished educator and linguist, has dedicated over 40 years to the field of education. In 2018, she founded Sharon's Classes, an online learning platform that provides accessible learning resources to students worldwide. Sharon's Classes initially emerged from a collaboration between Dr. Shappley and a student. He expressed a need to learn business English, and she agreed to help him. The student had also been assigned a school project on social media advertising and web development, and he created Sharon's English Classes to demonstrate his proficiency in these areas. Dr. Shappley kept the website, and her former student still assists her occasionally.

Dr. Shappley's journey in education began with the establishment of Noah's Ark Business Services in 1998. Initially a preschool, Noah's Ark received a three-star rating, the highest recognition for such an establishment in Tennessee. The organization's focus shifted when Dr. Shappley received a call asking if she could teach a group of people how to use a particular software. Since she was already engaged in adult education at the police department and elsewhere, she decided to take on this new project. Consequently, Noah's Ark expanded its instructional offerings, evolving into a comprehensive learning center by 2013.

In addition to her entrepreneurial endeavors, Dr. Shappley has held several academic positions. Since 2022, she has served as a professor at two institutions, Academia Universal and LeadHigher, where she continues to impart her extensive knowledge in language and education. Her role as an adjunct professor at the Jersey College School of Nursing from 2022 to 2023 further highlights her versatility and dedication to teaching across various disciplines.

Dr. Shappley's academic achievements have significantly contributed to her success. She earned a Doctor of Philosophy in education from Northcentral University in 2021, a master's degree in English language and literature from National University in 2021 and a bachelor's degree from Ashford University in 2013. Her educational journey began after overcoming personal challenges, including a severe health issue that confined her to a wheelchair for a decade. This experience motivated her to complete her education, culminating in a series of degrees that have empowered her to make substantial contributions to the field of education.

Dr. Shappley's passion for language and teaching was evident from an early age. In college, she was recognized as a linguist due to her multilingual abilities. Initially pursuing a premed track, financial constraints led her to embrace teaching as a career. Her early experiences teaching at a military school in Puerto Rico solidified her passion for education, which she continued to pursue even while raising children and facing life interruptions.

Dr. Shappley's contributions extend beyond academia into civic engagement and community service. She is actively involved in volunteer work with the local art community and the FAU Club, demonstrating her commitment to giving back to society. Her efforts have been recognized with numerous awards, including the Visionaries Award at the Education 2.0 Conference in 2025 for her work on English language acquisition challenges in India, marking a career highlight. Earlier in her career, she received UTech awards in 2007, 2008 and 2009 and an Oratrics award in 1992.

Outside her professional life, Dr. Shappley enjoys traveling, photography and reading. She is currently compiling all her educational materials into software that students can use with or without a teacher and hopes to complete this project in the near future. Looking ahead, she aspires to travel the world, further enriching her understanding of diverse cultures and languages while continuing to make impactful contributions through education.
