Dr. Praeger honed his skills as a cardiothoracic surgery fellow at the Keck School of Medicine from 2017 to 2020. This fellowship provided him with advanced training and experience in the field, further solidifying his reputation as an expert in cardiac surgery. Before this appointment, he completed a surgical critical care fellowship at the University of Hawaii at Manoa in Honolulu from 2016 to 2017, where he gained valuable insights into managing critically ill surgical patients.

Dr. Praeger's journey in medicine began with a general surgery residency at Mount Sinai Morningside and Mount Sinai West in New York City from 2010 to 2016. This foundational experience equipped him with comprehensive surgical skills and knowledge, setting the stage for his future specialization in cardiothoracic surgery. Throughout his career, Dr. Praeger has been driven by a passion for transforming lives by helping patients regain their independence and return to a functional life.

Dr. Praeger earned a Doctor of Medicine from Semmelweis University in Budapest, Hungary, in 2009. The decision to study medicine was influenced by his father, also a cardiothoracic surgeon, who played a pivotal role in inspiring him to pursue this path. Forgoing undergraduate studies, Dr. Praeger went directly into medical school, driven by a desire to make a meaningful impact on people's lives through cardiac surgery.

Dr. Praeger's professional success is supported by certifications in general surgery and surgical critical care from the American Board of Surgery, earned in 2016 and 2017, respectively. He also obtained certification in cardiothoracic surgery from the American Board of Thoracic Surgery in 2021. He attributes his achievements to the unwavering support of his family, friends and colleagues, who have been instrumental throughout his career.

Outside of his professional life, Dr. Praeger enjoys spending time with his family and engaging in outdoor activities such as surfing, hiking and snowboarding. He is dedicated to further developing and expanding his practice with a particular focus on atrial fibrillation treatment. Additionally, Dr. Praeger aspires to become an associate professor at USC, combining his passion for medicine with education to inspire future medical professionals while continuing to provide exceptional patient care.
