As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Currently serving as president of Enterprise Aviation Services LLC — established in 2008 alongside his son — Mr. Preston is a distinguished expert in aviation training, business strategy and operations management. In his role, he is involved in developing strategic planning and arrangements with various companies, including the United States Department of Energy and the Department of Defense. His efforts include setting up training programs for military personnel, such as helicopter pilots transitioning to commercial aviation, as well as programs for Department of Energy technicians and security agents to obtain FAA-certified drone pilot licenses. With over 7,000 pilots trained, the business continues to see widespread success throughout New Mexico and beyond.
Before founding Enterprise Aviation Services, Mr. Preston contributed significantly as program manager of Northrop Grumman's B-2 Bomber factory of the future conceptual design team. In this capacity, he managed the development of software requirements needed to support design and production processes during the B-2 production. This included integrated enterprise-wide planning systems, integrated process flow systems and multiple levels of robotic applications. His expertise was further demonstrated in his work on Rockwell's B-1 Bomber landing gear design, which included significant improvements and production cost savings through the application of his Airframe Cost Design Guide Program. Mr. Preston also served on the conceptual design team for Martin Marietta's F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, where he was involved in developing global mission and logistics software requirements.
Mr. Preston's career is deeply rooted in his extensive military service with the United States Air Force. After starting as an aircraft electrician, he was nominated for the Airman's Education and Commissioning Program with a full scholarship to Oklahoma State University, followed by Officer's Training School (OTS). He served as the Deputy for Future Factory Concepts at the Air Force Wright Aeronautical Laboratories, where he was responsible for developing the Factory of the Future Program and its template application to multiple aviation and military industries (airframes, propulsion, and avionics) with the goal of helping to modernize and maintain the US military-industrial base.
Mr. Preston's service in military and civilian positions over the next 30 years included many highlights, earning him recognition from the Department of Defense (DoD) and the U.S. industrial complex. For instance, the DoD's Office of Research & Development (R&D) acknowledged many of his project achievements as Showcase Success Stories. Additionally, his work on the Factory of the Future concept was of great interest to the Swiss Government. Two Factory of the Future Concept applications were conducted in Switzerland and were selected by EUREKA (the European R&D Commission) as Top European success stories upon completion, showcasing the industry's modernization innovations for international applications.
Academically, Mr. Preston earned a Master of Arts in industrial management from Central Michigan University and a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from Oklahoma State University. His educational endeavors provided him with much of the foundational knowledge necessary for his roles in both the military and civilian sectors. To stay aware of the latest developments within the field of aviation, he is an active member of the Air & Space Forces Association (A&SFA) and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA).
In commemoration of his accomplishments, Mr. Preston's work on the Factory of the Future Program, the Aviation Integrated Design/Production Trade-off Decision Program, the Architecture for Integrated Quality Assurance Application Program, and the Factory of the Future Implementation Application for the Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM) Design & Production Program were all selected as Top Ten Showcase Success Stories by the United States Department of Defense Office of R&D. Underscoring his outstanding work with Enterprise Aviation Services, the business was named as the Top Performing Flight School Worldwide in 2015 and again in 2017 by Women of Aviation Worldwide (WOAW). More recently, in October 2024, his business was named the Most Successful Flight School in the USA by the Aerospace & Defense Review. Additionally, Mr. Preston and his son were spotlighted in Albuquerque The Magazine in August 2024.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Preston is actively involved in civic-minded organizations by making monthly contributions to Goodwill and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. In his personal life, he enjoys collecting coins, jogging, walking and spending quality time with his family. Looking ahead, he plans to retire in the future and is focused on helping his son build their aviation business so it can continue thriving under new leadership.
