Prior to being promoted to his current role at JOFO Nonwovens, Mr. Erlandsson served as global vice president of research and development from 2020 to 2022. During this period, he was instrumental in advancing the company's research initiatives, particularly in developing high-end medical fabrics. His previous tenure at PFNonwovens LLC from 2017 to 2020 was serving as the leader of medical nonwoven products after contributing as managing director and site leader for FQN-Asia at PFNonwovens LLC for one year.
Mr. Erlandsson's earlier career consisted of significant roles at the Fiberweb Sweden Facility in 1984 where he was part of a start-up team in Northern Europe, Berry Global Inc. from 2004 to 2016, where he served as global director of innovation and application development and as global research and development director and leader of the Asia Center of Excellence Research. His work during these years was characterized by groundbreaking innovations in nonwoven fabrics, including patents for multilayered nonwoven fabric and high-barrier polypropylene SMS nonwoven fabric. His expertise was further honed during his two-year tenure as technical customer service manager and four-year tenure as corporate research and engineering manager.
Mr. Erlandsson's career began with roles such as senior production engineer at Kimberly-Clark from 2001 to 2004 and director of process engineering at ASON Nonwoven from 1997 to 2000. As a dual citizen originally from Norrköping, Sweden, he began his professional career in 1984 when he joined a paper company actively recruiting recent engineering graduates to lead a regional technological initiative. As a new civil engineer, he immediately took on a pivotal role, contributing to the company's forward-looking innovation efforts. His career spans roles across Canada, the United States, Europe and Asia, including China and Thailand.
Educationally, Mr. Erlandsson's academic background includes a Master of Business Administration in project management from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China in 2009, a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Ebersteinska Tech in Sweden in 1982 and a diploma in innovation management from CII Chinese Innovation Management. He also holds a project management professional certification from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, obtained in 2008.
Throughout his career, Mr. Erlandsson has been an active member of several industry-related organizations, including serving as a committee member for Research Innovative in Science Engineered Products during 2017. He is also a member of the Polytechnical Association and the Swedish Society of Engineers. His commitment to community welfare is evident through his philanthropic efforts, such as negotiating with diaper manufacturers in Asia to donate diapers to an orphanage in China.
In addition to his professional achievements, Mr. Erlandsson has authored publications like "Fine Denier Fabric for the Disposable Diaper Industry" in 1998. Looking ahead, he envisions expanding his family business into a legacy for his sons while continuing to innovate health care-related fabrics. His focus remains on developing solutions like breathability indicators for early detection of urinary tract infections in adult diapers and exploring geotextiles for infrastructure growth.
Throughout his career, Mr. Erlandsson has attributed his success to his goal-oriented nature combined with adaptability and flexibility. His ability to work across diverse regions, cultures and technologies has been a significant strength in his work, enabling him to navigate complex challenges effectively and foster collaboration across boundaries.
