From 2021 to 2023, Dr. Keita was an epidemiologist specializing in disease investigation at the Barren River District Health Department in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Before this role, he was the health center manager at Synergy Healthcare Services LLC from 2017 to 2020, where he managed comprehensive healthcare services and ensured high standards of patient care.

Dr. Keita was a physician at Hospital Vargas De Caracas in Venezuela from 2014 to 2016. He began his career as a laboratory technician at the Medical Research Council Unit, The Gambia, at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine from 2006 to 2008. Additionally, he imparted knowledge as a chemistry, mathematics, and science teacher at the Muslim Senior Secondary School in The Gambia from 2003 to 2008.

His academic credentials are impressive. He holds a Doctor of Health Science and a Master of Public Health from the University of Indianapolis, completed in 2024 and 2023, respectively. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from Universidad Nacional Experimental de los Llanos Centrales 'Rómulo Gallegos' in 2015 and a bachelor's degree in pre-medicine from Escuela Latino Americana De Medicina in 2009. Dr. Keita complemented his education with additional credentials, including the Public Health Leadership Essentials Certificate from Cornell University and a business administration and management certification from the University of Miami Herbert Business School.

Dr. Keita's professional affiliations include membership in the Journal of the American Medical Association and the American College of Preventive Medicine. His civic engagement is demonstrated through his role as board vice president for Casa Comunitaria de Recursos in Poughkeepsie, New York, from 2023 to 2025. For his expertise, the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation awarded him a scholarship, and he also received the New State Public Health Fellowship Award in 2022.
