Mr. Groves has had a distinguished career spanning over 60 years, marked by significant contributions to the fields of manufacturing, material management, manufacturing engineering, quality assurance, program management and general management. He retired as the vice president and general manager of United Technologies Corporation (UTC), where he served from 1983 to 1993. During his tenure, he was instrumental in steering the company through various challenges and was recognized with several prestigious awards, including the UTC Leadership Award in 1991. His expertise and leadership were pivotal in maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency within the organization.

Prior to his role at UTC, Mr. Groves spent a substantial part of his career at ITT Inc., formerly ITT Corporation. He joined the company in 1965 and worked there for nearly two decades. His time at ITT was marked by meaningful achievements, including his role as an engineering manager responsible for launching an international gateway switching system in Italy. This position allowed him to hone his skills in project management and team leadership, working closely with an all-Italian team to ensure successful implementation.

In 1995, Mr. Groves founded OMNI Team, a company dedicated to executive coaching and leadership training. Through OMNI Team, he has worked with over 13,000 individuals across eight states, providing guidance to executives and engineers facing job loss and helping them navigate career transitions. He believes it is vital to help others see themselves in a positive light, especially when they struggle to recognize their own potential. His work at OMNI Team evolved into a ministry, where he taught career advancement courses weekly for 13 years at his church before passing the responsibility to the church and collaborating with Christian Women's Job Corps.

Laying a strong foundation for Mr. Groves's professional accomplishments was his educational background, inclusive of a bachelor's degree in industrial technology from Tennessee Technological University, which he earned in 1965. Despite financial constraints during his upbringing, he attained higher education through scholarships and summer jobs. The values instilled by his parents — respect for others, hard work, integrity and honesty — have been integral to his achievements.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Groves has been actively involved in civic organizations such as the United Way of Madison County and the Huntsville Museum of Art. He has also contributed significantly to the United Methodist Church as a committee chair since 1986 and has been recognized with numerous awards for his volunteer work, including the Volunteer of the Year Award from Christian Women's Job Corps in 2020.

Looking ahead, Mr. Groves plans to focus on longevity while continuing his involvement with Christian Women's Job Corps. This devotion serves as a testament to his enduring commitment to community service and personal growth.
