Her two-year tenure at Tuya Smart as the marketing director for North America involved collaborating with the chief marketing officer to localize strategies internally and externally. Before that, she served as the marketing director at the Connectivity Standards Alliance from 2018 to 2020, where she played a crucial role in overseeing marketing programs and fostered collaboration among competing companies to develop shared standards.

Prior to embarking upon her professional journey, Dr. Olivo earned a doctorate in linguistics with a specialization in sociophonetics from Rice University in 2013. Demonstrating her commitment to academic excellence and personal growth, she also served as president of the Rice Linguistics Society and founded Circolo Italiano, Rice's cultural club dedicated to Italian culture. Her dissertation explored sociolinguistic evidence for emerging American ethnicities, providing insights into how social factors influence language use. Six years earlier, she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in linguistics from the University at Buffalo. Her studies abroad in Italy and Ecuador further enriched her linguistic proficiency in Italian and Spanish, enabling her to communicate effectively across diverse cultures.

Dr. Olivo's ongoing commitment to professional development is evident through her certifications from the Pragmatic Institute, where she achieved the PMC Level IV certification in 2023. Her ability to organize and integrate input from various stakeholders has been a key factor in her success, particularly during transitions in marketing for competing organizations. Her early fascination with the internet and its potential for global communication inspired her career path, leading her to apply her linguistics knowledge within modernized industry settings.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Dr. Olivo is actively involved in civic initiatives such as the Girl Scouts of Northern California and serves on the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Council at Silicon Laboratories.
