GARFIELD, NJ, May 21, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Manjunath Kustagi has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With a remarkable career spanning 25 years, Mr. Kustagi has made significant contributions to the field of bioinformatics and computational biology. Currently serving as an artificial intelligence engineer at Sharecare Inc., he is a distinguished expert in genomic systems biology, machine learning and warehousing applications. His dedication to excellence at the company recently saw him promoted to his current engineering role after starting as an independent consultant in data mining.

Prior to joining Sharecare, Mr. Kustagi was the head of multiomics at Cache DNA Inc. in 2024, during which he led innovative projects in genomic research and mining RNA-sequencing data. From 2021 to 2023, he served as the senior director of bioinformatics at Envisagenics, where he played a pivotal role in advancing bioinformatics solutions for complex biological data analysis. His tenure as a bioinformatics scientist III at Sema4 in Stamford, Connecticut — where he built a new search engine to mine scientific literature — further solidified his reputation as a leader in the field.

Mr. Kustagi's career began with foundational roles that shaped his expertise in leadership, system architecture and data analytics. He was a bioinformatics specialist II at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute from 2016 to 2018 and a computational biologist at Rockefeller University from 2012 to 2019. While at Rockefeller, he designed and built an advanced software and hardware system capable of searching quadrillions of sequence reads in RNA and DNA experiments. Earlier on, he served as a senior analyst at Columbia University from 2003 to 2014 and as a senior programmer at both First Genetic Trust and LION Bioscience.

Before venturing onto his vocational path, Mr. Kustagi earned a Master of Science in computer science from UMass Boston in 2000 and a Bachelor of Technology in biochemical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi in 1996. His academic endeavors provided him with many of the technical skills and knowledge necessary for his groundbreaking work in bioinformatics and genomics.

In addition to his formal education, Mr. Kustagi has obtained numerous certifications to enhance his expertise. In 2025, he successfully completed advanced learning algorithms and machine learning specialization courses through DeepLearning.AI and Stanford University. Dedicated to expanding his knowledge in health science, he also pursued studies on cancer metastasis and prostate cancer at Johns Hopkins University and omic data specialization at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center.

Mr. Kustagi's dedication to scientific research is equally evident through his numerous publications. He has authored important studies on topics such as single cell RNA sequencing, network inference frameworks and gene expression analysis with his works being published in prestigious journals such as Bioinformatics, Blood, Molecular Systems Biology and Nature Protocols. He attributes much of his storied success to his determination, which was shaped by personal experiences during his formative years. His unrelenting drive continues to fuel his passion for making impactful contributions to the field of genomics and improving patient outcomes through innovative solutions.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Mr. Kustagi enjoys playing golf, singing and painting as forms of relaxation and creative expression. In the coming years, he aims to develop a system that delivers real-time diagnostics and identifies the root causes of afflictions for cancer patients and those suffering from genetic diseases. His professional accomplishments and future goals alike reflect a legacy of innovation and an equally powerful desire to help those in need.
