Prior to founding Erbur Solutions, Dr. Erhan served as the director of business development at Process Oils Inc., an Ergon company, from 2020 to 2025. In this role, he led numerous initiatives that focused on developing sustainable alternatives to replace toxic diesel fuels, demonstrating his enduring commitment to environmental stewardship. Dr. Erhan oversaw a wide array of projects, including the development of drilling fluids, metalworking fluids and specialized greases, all aimed at reducing the environmental impact of industrial processes.

Before joining Process Oils, Dr. Erhan worked as the global commercial development manager for industrial oils at Archer Daniels Midland Company from 2016 to 2020. During his tenure, he successfully persuaded Hankook Tires to incorporate vegetable oils into their products, marking a significant breakthrough in the tire industry's adoption of sustainable materials. Dr. Erhan's efforts extended beyond commercial applications, contributing to major environmental advancements.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Erhan served as a scientist at Elevance Renewable Sciences Inc., Afton Chemical and Polartech Inc. During this time, he was also the chair of the Chicago Section of the Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers (STLE). His tenure at Georgia-Pacific as both a technology manager and research scientist further reinforced his dedication to plant-based, sustainable solutions. Previously, Dr. Erhan worked at D.A. Stuart as one of the chief formulators for water-based metalworking fluids.

Dr. Erhan's foundational expertise in sustainable chemistry began to take shape during his time at the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Center for Agricultural Utilization Research, where he worked as a research scientist from 1988 to 2000. There, he pioneered the industrial use of vegetable oils in products such as agricultural additives, lubricants and greases, in addition to exploring new crop applications.

Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Erhan earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Istanbul in 1979. He later pursued advanced studies in the United States, obtaining a PhD in organic-polymer chemistry from Western Michigan University in 1987. Following the completion of his doctorate, Dr. Erhan began his career by teaching for a year at Western Michigan University, laying the foundation for his dedication to research, innovation and education.

In addition to his technical achievements, Dr. Erhan is deeply involved in civic and educational initiatives. He currently serves as a trustee of the Assembly of Turkish American Associations, a role through which he supports cultural exchange and community engagement across all of the USA and Canada. He has also played an active role in philanthropic efforts such as the Bridge to Türkiye Fund, which promotes educational opportunities for young girls in Turkey, and has contributed to adult and youth education through the TACA Turkish American Cultural Alliance and the Turkish Woman Initiative.

Beyond his civic-minded roles, Dr. Erhan has chaired the Environmentally Friendly Fluids Division of STLE since 2009 and serves as education co-chair for the Chicago chapter. A longtime member of several industry organizations, he has also served on the Metalworking Fluid Business Committee and is the editor of Tribology and Lubrication Technology Magazine.

Outside his profession, Dr. Erhan enjoys traveling and social work, which he plans to continue alongside his sustainability efforts.
