Ms. Funfgeld is a distinguished product designer at Hitachi Solutions America, where she has been contributing her expertise since 2021. She is integral to the entire design process, from initial consulting to creating prototypes and conducting usability tests to validate assumptions. Her unique background in psychology enhances her ability to understand human behavior, making her a standout UX researcher on her team. In addition to her role at Hitachi Solutions America, Ms. Funfgeld works as a freelance UX/UI designer with 5Gold UX starting in 2018. Prior to her current positions, she briefly served as a UX designer at Health Recovery Solutions in 2021 after a two-year tenure in a similar role at Iotum Group Inc.

Ms. Funfgeld's academic journey began with a bachelor's degree in psychology with a specialization in art therapy from Long Island University in 2007, where she graduated magna cum laude. Her passion for art and research led her to pursue a master's degree in museum studies from the University of Toronto in 2014. Although initially aiming to design museum exhibits, she transitioned into the tech industry after discovering user experience design during her time freelancing and trying out several other fields. To formalize her training, she earned a diploma in UX design from BrainStation in 2019.

Ms. Funfgeld's commitment to continuous learning is evident through her many additional certifications, including a certificate in digital media skills from OCAD University and becoming Microsoft Certified in Azure AI Fundamentals. She also holds a scrum master certification from the International Scrum Institute. Beyond these qualifications, she attributes her success to stubbornness and determination. Although she initially wished she had a clearer path as a young adult, she now sees the benefits of trying different careers and is proud of her journey.

Beyond her professional achievements, Ms. Funfgeld is actively involved in civic-minded organizations. She has volunteered as a collection and research volunteer at the Royal Ontario Museum and as a volunteer at the Nassau County Museum of Art. Additionally, she is associated with the Rotary Club.

In her personal life, Ms. Funfgeld enjoys reading, painting, sketching, hiking, horseback riding and traveling. She is also socially active and values spending time with others. Looking ahead professionally, she aims to become a principal in usability research and psychology design or a related field while also relaunching her consulting business. She is committed to using AI to improve productivity and help the wider community adapt to this technology effectively. As a product designer, she seeks to bridge the gap between everyday users and knowledgeable developers, focusing on ethical and effective use of AI technologies.
