BURBANK, CA, May 22, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- William Robert Miller has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
A distinguished author, illustrator, animator, writer and historian, Mr. Miller has made significant contributions to the animation industry. He began his career in 1985 as a writer and has developed it into a multifaceted journey across various esteemed studios ever since. He has worked on storyboards and illustrations for iconic animated series such "The Simpsons," for which he won two Emmy Awards, "Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase" and "101 Dalmatians: The Series."
In addition to his animation work, Mr. Miller has been a prolific writer throughout his career. He recently completed a five-volume series titled "Batman: The Animated Interviews," which stands as one of his most notable achievements. He is also proud of his series "The Animated Voice," a compilation of interviews with voiceover actors that highlights their experiences in the industry, and "The Star Wars Historical Sourcebook" series, which catalogs media coverage and events covering the original Star Wars trilogy from 1971 to 1990. His writing credits extend to the online Animation Scoop, and to Comics Buyer's Guide, Starlog and Comics Scene magazines, where he contributed articles that further showcased his expertise in the field.
At Cartoon Network Mr. Miller served as a storyboard supervisor on "Courage the Cowardly Dog," "Harvey Birdman: Attorney-at-Law" and "Megas XLR." Prior to this, he was a storyboard supervisor at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) Animation for "The Lionhearts," an animated series inspired by Leo the Lion from MGM films. Additionally, his role at Hanna-Barbera involved storyboard work on "Dumb and Dumber: The Animated Series." During his time at Warner Bros., he contributed to the famed 1996 film "Space Jam" as an effects animator and "Quest for Camelot" as an effects assistant.
Earlier in his storied career, Mr. Miller was a special effects animator at Rich Entertainment for "The Swan Princess" in 1994. He also worked at Hyperion Films on "Itsy Bitsy Spider" and at Film Roman as a prop designer and assistant storyboard artist for "Garfield and Friends." His initial roles included working as an in-betweener and assistant animator at Sullivan Bluth Productions on projects such as "Rock-a-Doodle," "A Troll in Central Park" and "Thumbelina."
Mr. Miller's educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in communications from the University of Texas at Austin, obtained in 1980. He attributes much of his success to perseverance, networking, continuous learning and following his passion — qualities that have been key in navigating the distinctive challenges of show business.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mr. Miller is known for his contributions as a civic-minded citizen. He served on the board of directors for the International Animated Film Association (ASIFA-Hollywood), promoting, educating and preserving the art of animation, and is a donor to the North American Mission Board, Vietnam Veterans of America and his local church. He is a current member of SCBWI, the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators since 1997. He was also a member of Women in Animation, which empowers women in a traditionally male-dominated field. To commemorate his outstanding service in the animation industry, he was recognized with a Certificate of Merit Annie Award from ASIFA-Hollywood.
Looking to the future, Mr. Miller is working on a new project called "We R Dragons" — a series of graphic novels with a cinematic approach also formatted for animation — and has obtained a trademark for the endeavor. His journey through the animation industry continues to be marked by creativity, resilience and an unwavering commitment to excellence that inspires those around him.
