His academic background includes a Master of Business Administration in construction management from the Carl H. Lindner College of Business at the University of Cincinnati, earned in 1997, and a bachelor's degree in architectural engineering technology from the University of Cincinnati College of Applied Science, obtained in 1991.

Throughout his career, Mr. McWhorter has been recognized internally multiple times for his contributions to Amazon's success. He is also actively involved in civic organizations, serving as president of the Major Taylor Cycling Club of Cincinnati since the first quarter of 2025 and holding various other positions within the club.
