OKLAHOMA CITY, OK, May 23, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Adam Roy Lanman, AIA, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected based on their current reference value. Factors such as professional achievements, leadership, visibility, and contributions to the field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Lanman is a thoughtful and design-driven architect and artist, and the founder of Atelier aL, an independent practice established in 2020. Grounded in public interest design and environmental responsibility, his work bridges architecture and art with a strong focus on community, context, and craft. Atelier aL is known for its small-scale, high-craft design projects, distinctive developments, and large-scale public artworks—each approached with a deep sensitivity to place, history, and social impact.

Under Mr. Lanman's leadership, the firm has earned three AIA Design Excellence Awards since 2021, and its work has been featured by Dwell, PLAIN Magazine, and 405 Magazine. Through a practice rooted in collaboration, preservation, and civic engagement, Mr. Lanman continues to explore how architecture and art can shape more inclusive, enduring, and inspiring environments.

Mr. Lanman began his professional journey after earning a Master of Architecture from Cornell University's College of Architecture, Art, and Planning in 2014. His early experience includes time at Rand Elliott Architects and with the London-based firm Allford Hall Monaghan Morris, where he contributed to major projects at the firm's Oklahoma satellite office. Though these roles brought early recognition, Mr. Lanman ultimately chose to step away from traditional practice in order to pursue a more personally meaningful path—balancing architecture, public art, and private commissions through a studio model focused on impact and integrity.

In addition to his design work, Mr. Lanman has contributed significantly to architectural education. He has served as a volunteer design mentor for the Oklahoma ArtScience Prize, an adjunct assistant professor at Oklahoma State University, and a visiting lecturer at the University of Oklahoma. He has led three summer design/build studios and shared his expertise in hand-drawing and architectural sketching—an area in which his work has received broad recognition. His illustrations have been featured in Graphic Communications by Moh'd Bilbeisi, in a solo exhibition at Living Arts of Tulsa, at Oklahoma Contemporary's ArtNow exhibition, and in Creative Journeys (2024), a publication by two Oklahoma State professors highlighting influential illustrators in design education.

Known for his civic-minded approach, Mr. Lanman has volunteered with Jesus House of Oklahoma and regularly participates in student design critiques across the region. He is an active member of the AIA Central Oklahoma Chapter's Committee on the Environment and a former board member of the Independent Artists of Oklahoma Gallery, reflecting his long-standing commitment to supporting the arts and mentoring emerging designers.

His recent and ongoing work includes Soddy 2.0, a sustainable housing prototype featured in PLAIN Magazine in 2025, and the Paseo Village historic preservation housing project in Oklahoma City. He has also led architectural design efforts for Under Her Wing Was the Universe, a large-scale public artwork by R. Owens, and for SeeSaw ArtWall, a hybrid public art and playground installation in Oklahoma City. Mr. Lanman maintains active memberships with the American Institute of Architects and the U.S. Green Building Council to stay engaged with best practices in sustainability and advocacy within the profession.

Mr. Lanman was born in Nebraska and now lives in Oklahoma with his two sons. An avid backpacker, he finds renewal and inspiration in the wilderness. He is committed to visiting every U.S. national park, having already explored Yellowstone, Glacier, and the Great Smoky Mountains, among others.

As his practice continues to grow, Mr. Lanman is developing a vision for small-scale ecological expansion in rural areas. He is currently working on conceptual designs for an off-grid cabin in South Dakota and collaborating on a regenerative farming initiative in Oklahoma City. He also plans to introduce his studio team to the natural world through immersive trips that align with the studio's values of environmental stewardship, collaboration, and design with purpose.
