Before being named to his role, Mr. Vo briefly worked as a petroleum engineer technician with the Bureau of Land Management in Rock Springs, Wyoming, in 2018. His career began as a field graduate intern with the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement in Angleton, Texas, in 2015. Mr. Vo also gained valuable experience as an application engineer at Express Energy Services in Houston from 2013 to 2014, following his initial role as a well testing engineer for the organization between 2011 and 2013. His early career was marked by an internship as a draftsman at DTD Steel Detail in Houston in 2011.

Mr. Vo's academic background laid a strong foundation for his professional achievements. He earned a bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering at the University of Texas at Austin in 2011 and a master's degree in petroleum engineering with a focus on smart oilfield technologies from the University of Southern California in 2015. His academic pursuits were supported by several scholarships, including the Petroleum Engineering Workforce Initiative Scholarship and the George and Mary Hamman Foundation Scholarship. Additionally, Mr. Vo holds certification as a Fire Fighter Type II with the Bureau of Land Management and an Engineer-In-Training with the Texas Board of Professional Land Surveyors.

Active in his professional community, Mr. Vo is affiliated with the Society of Petroleum Engineers. Deeply committed to community service, he has participated in park cleanups organized by local bureaus and volunteered as a firefighter with the La Huerta Volunteer Fire Department in Carlsbad from 2019 to 2020. These activities reflect Mr. Vo's dedication to maintaining public spaces and contributing to emergency response efforts.

Throughout his career, Mr. Vo has been recognized for his contributions to the field. Notably, he was part of an API workgroup focused on well-testing, culminating in an official release in 2017. Mr. Vo's commitment to excellence has been recognized through several awards, such as the Director's Team Accomplishment Award from the Bureau of Land Management.

Looking ahead, Mr. Vo aims to further strengthen his technical expertise by passing the professional engineering exam with the Texas Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. He envisions potentially transitioning into contracting and consulting within the private sector, where he hopes to assist individuals unfamiliar with drilling operations and regulations in the Permian Basin.
