CONROE, TX, May 30, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Javier Alejandro Franquet Barbara has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Franquet Barbara has established a distinguished career in the field of geomechanics, with a particular focus on the development and application of microfrac technology. As an associate fellow in formation evaluation at Baker Hughes Company since 2024, he has provided high-level technical expertise across various departments, including drilling, wireline, and pressure pumping services. His contributions to the industry are underscored by his development of a tool used to measure in situ stress through microfrac technology, which involves creating small-scale fractures to gather data without stimulating the reservoir. This innovative approach has allowed him to characterize over 700 straddle packer microfrac tests worldwide, amassing one of the largest databases of subsurface in-situ stress measurements.

Mr. Franquet Barbara's career at Baker Hughes is marked by a series of progressive roles that highlight his expertise and leadership in geomechanics and petroleum engineering. From 2022 to 2024, he served as the global segment lead for formation evaluation and testing, where he was responsible for overseeing technological advancements and commercial strategies. For the preceding two years, he was the global techno-commercial manager for pressure pumping and reservoir services, where he played a pivotal role in integrating technical solutions with commercial objectives.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Franquet Barbara served as a geoscience and petroleum engineering advisor at Baker Hughes for the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey from 2016 to 2020. Still at the same firm, he was the geoscience director for India, South Arabian Gulf and Iraq two years after beginning his work with the firm in 2004 as a senior geoscientist in the Middle East region geomechanics team. Prior to joining this company, he honed his skills as a geomechanics researcher at PDVSA Petroleos de Venezuela from 1996 to 2003.

Mr. Franquet Barbara's academic background laid a strong foundation for his professional achievements. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Hult International Business School, a Master of Science in petroleum engineering from Texas A&M University, a Master of Science in reservoir geosciences and engineering from IFP School and a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Universidad Simon Bolivar, which he completed in Venezuela before immigrating to the United States. He also holds numerous career-related certifications from the Project Management Institute, Yale School of Management, Columbia Business School, Tuck Executive Education, The Wharton School, and LinkedIn.

In addition to his technical prowess, Mr. Franquet Barbara is dedicated to education and mentorship. He frequently lectures for Conroe ISD and offers free classes to individuals interested in geomechanics. His commitment to teaching extends internally at Baker Hughes, where he has trained numerous professionals in the field. Overall, he attributes much of his professional success to his integrity, common sense, perseverance and ability to motivate teams.

Mr. Franquet Barbara's professional affiliations include membership in the Society of Petroleum Engineers since 1996, as well as involvement with the American Rock Mechanics Association and the Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts. He has also authored numerous publications, including co-authoring "New Method of XRF/XRD based mineralogy for estimating matrix-modulus, Biot's coefficient and effective-stress using VRH and HS bounds of rock physics principles," published by the American Rock Mechanics Association in 2024. His contributions have been recognized through various awards, patents for innovative technologies and accolades for his speaking engagements at industry conferences.

Beyond his professional life, Mr. Franquet Barbara is actively involved in civic activities through volunteering at the Houston Food Bank and serving as an assistant scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America, among many other charities. He also enjoys playing rugby and coaching soccer in his free time. Looking ahead, he aims to support his children's educational pursuits while continuing to contribute his expertise to emerging energy sectors like geothermal power, hydrogen technology, and carbon capture storage and utilization.
