HONOLULU, HI, June 02, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Alexis Kalewalani Charpentier, MPH, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Hailing from a health care career that spans more than a decade, Ms. Charpentier has established herself as a formidable leader in the public health sector. As the chief executive officer of Waikiki Health, she is marked by her distinction as the youngest CEO in Hawaii to lead a federally qualified health center (FQHC) as well as the first Native Hawaiian female to do so at Waikiki Health. With the central goal of helping those in need, reducing stigmas and breaking down barriers to health care equity, she oversees company operations, fosters client collaborations for fundraising and ensures that the center remains a patient-centered medical home. Her current position at Waikiki Health comes more than 10 years after she initially served at the center as an HIV quality improvement specialist from 2012 to 2013.

Before returning to Waikiki Health, Ms. Charpentier was the director of prevention at the National Alliance of State and Territorial AIDS Directors (NASTAD) from 2022 to 2023. Her tenure at the nonprofit association was characterized by her strategic initiatives in public health care and management to aid those impacted by HIV and AIDS. Before that, she served as an HIV public health supervisor and epidemiological specialist IV at the Hawaii State Department of Health from 2013 to 2022, honing her skills in health care, leadership and quality assurance.

With an equally robust academic background, Ms. Charpentier earned a Master of Public Health in health care administration from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in 2024, graduating summa cum laude. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Portland, completed in 2011. To augment her qualifications, she is certified in public health detailing by the San Francisco Department of Public Health, Health Finance and Management by Johns Hopkins and building expertise in administration and management by the University of Miami Herbert Business School. Furthermore, she previously held certifications in adult CPR from the American Red Cross and as an HIV prevention counselor by the Hawaii State Department of Health.

In commemoration of her many achievements in the health care sector, Ms. Charpentier was named a National 40 Under 40 in Public Health by the de Beaumont Foundation in 2021. This accolade is particularly meaningful for her due to the longtime collaboration and support she shares with her cohort, driving each other in their professional endeavors. Additionally, she was recognized as a Diverse Executive Leading in Public Health Scholar by the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials in 2022 and received a Bloomberg American Health Initiative fellowship from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health in 2020.

Ms. Charpentier's commitment to public health extends beyond her professional roles. She serves as president of the Hawaii Public Health Association and is an active member of the American Public Health Association and Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health. Her civic involvement includes serving on the board of directors for AlohaCare and vice president positions on the boards of directors for both the Hawaii Primary Care Association and Waikiki Health, highlighting her deep dedication to serving her community.

Born in Kaneohe, Ms. Charpentier attributes much of her success to her early experiences at Waikiki Health, where she learned the importance of compassionate and individualized care. Inspired by her mother's emphasis on education and passion-driven pursuits, she remains committed to advancing health equity at the local, state and national levels.

Looking to the future, Ms. Charpentier aims to grow Waikiki Health by acquiring property ownership to reduce costs and invest in modern technology, thereby enhancing service quality and efficiency for the community she serves. Her successes and future goals alike reflect a legacy of excellence, empathy and an unwavering determination to expand public health to reach more individuals and families.
