INDIANAPOLIS, IN, June 02, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sydney McSorley, LCSW, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mrs. McSorley is a licensed clinical social worker at LifeSolutions Counseling Associates P.C., where she has been providing mental health services since 2021. In her role as a therapist, she specializes in assisting teenagers and adults with trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and relationship challenges. Her expertise extends to the mental health of athletes, a population she understands deeply due to her background in sports. She conducts both remote and in-person sessions, tailoring her approach to meet each client's specific needs. Mrs. McSorley is also committed to continuing education and ensuring she remains informed about best practices in her field.

Before joining LifeSolutions Counseling Associates, Mrs. McSorley served as a licensed master social worker at Lykins Counseling Clinic from 2020 to 2021. During this time, she honed her skills in working with children and adolescents, laying the groundwork for her current focus on individuals aged 12 to 60. Her earlier experience includes a brief tenure as a therapist at Meridian Health Services Corp. in 2020, where she further developed her techniques. Mrs. McSorley's career began in sports, where she worked as a recreational coach at Ball State University from 2015 to 2017. This role allowed her to combine her passion for athletics with her burgeoning interest in mental health. Prior to that, she completed an internship at Breaking Walls Counseling in 2016 and served as a coach at Wright's Gymnastics Academy from 2012 to 2015. These experiences provided her with a unique perspective on the intersection of sports and mental health.

Mrs. McSorley's most notable achievement involved working with a teenage client who was initially very resistant and guarded, attending therapy sporadically, leaving and returning multiple times. Progress was difficult because of the client's reluctance to open up. During one session, Mrs. McSorley was blunt in her approach, which upset the client and made her even more resistant. In the following session, Mrs. McSorley apologized to the client for her bluntness, which assuaged the client and made her more open to treatment. Subsequently, the client expressed a genuine desire to change her life and began applying the concepts they discussed in therapy. This experience reminded Mrs. McSorley that acknowledging mistakes and taking accountability can significantly strengthen rapport with clients.

Mrs. McSorley earned a Master of Social Work from Ball State University in 2020 and a Bachelor of Social Work, magna cum laude, from the same institution in 2018. The discipline and dedication she learned from gymnastics have been instrumental in her success as a social worker. Inspired by a licensed clinical social worker who helped her overcome performance anxiety during her teenage years, she pursued this career path with determination.

Mrs. McSorley's contributions extend beyond therapy sessions. She is also the author of "The Enduring Spirit of Beneficence," reflecting her commitment to sharing knowledge and insights gained throughout her career. Her accolades include the Faculty Athlete Representative Award for Academic Excellence and being recognized four times as an Academic All-American honoree.

In addition to her professional achievements, Mrs. McSorley is actively involved in several organizations related to her field. She is a member of the Alliance of Social Workers in Sports, the National Association of Social Workers, and Alpha Lambda Delta. Her civic engagements include serving as a volunteer student coach for Ball State University Athletics.

Outside of her professional life, Mrs. McSorley enjoys watching and attending sporting events, particularly Ball State University gymnastics competitions. She also has a passion for golf. She attributes much of her success to the lessons learned through gymnastics: discipline, dedication and resilience in the face of challenges. These qualities continue to guide her as she navigates both personal and professional endeavors. Looking ahead, she aims to expand her network by working with athlete clients and potentially collaborating with universities to further engage with the population she is most passionate about helping.
