Mr. Harris has built a distinguished career marked by significant contributions to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the U.S. Marine Corps. His journey began with his service as an active-duty U.S. Marine, where he dedicated 10 years before transitioning to the reserves. Over a span of 30 years, Mr. Harris rose to the rank of lieutenant colonel, demonstrating leadership and commitment. His military career included roles such as field historian, detachment commander and officer in charge, reflecting his versatility and dedication to duty.
Beyond his military contributions, Mr. Harris's career as a federal agent spanned over 21 years. His service with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service spanned over 17 years, during which he held various positions of increasing responsibility. As a federal agent, he managed cases involving narcotics, homicide, robbery and burglary. His expertise led to his appointment as the national program manager for covert electronic surveillance and later as a senior executive service leader overseeing field enforcement activities in Southern California. In this capacity, Mr. Harris managed response teams and ensured effective communication with stakeholders, including senators and media outlets. From 2021 to 2025, he led the Los Angeles Division as the inspector in charge up until his retirement in April 2025.
Mr. Harris's earlier career began as a security supervisor for Live Nation Entertainment from 2000 to 2002 and as a veteran service representative for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs between 2002 and 2004. He then pivoted to become a special agent for the Drug Enforcement Administration, where he remained until 2008.
Mr. Harris pursued higher education, earning a Bachelor of Science in psychology with a minor in sociology from Old Dominion University in 1992. He furthered his academic pursuits with a Master of Business Administration from Butler University in 2002 and a Master's in Military Studies from the Command and Staff College at Marine Corps University in 2006. These academic achievements equipped Mr. Harris with the strategic and analytical skills necessary for his subsequent roles in federal law enforcement.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. Harris is deeply committed to supporting veterans. He served as the national campaign lead for Operation Protect Veterans, a program to safeguard veterans from scams targeting their community. As the national spokesperson for this initiative, he has appeared on television and participated in numerous podcasts and interviews to raise awareness about these issues. Among other civic endeavors, Mr. Harris volunteers with organizations such as the Travis Manion Foundation, Merging Vets and Players, Boulder Crest Foundation and Wreaths Across America.
An accomplished author, Mr. Harris published "3rd MAW - Operation Iraqi Freedom" through the Marine Corps Association. His contributions have left an indelible mark on his profession and community, underscoring his legacy of service and leadership.
Mr. Harris's efforts have been recognized with several awards, including the Chief Postal Inspector Award and the National Hero Award from the Combined Federal Campaign.
