PORTLAND, OR, June 06, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- David W. Terry has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. Mr. Terry has established a distinguished career in internal auditing, particularly in higher education. As the director of internal audit at Portland State University since 2014, he has demonstrated exceptional expertise in financial processes, controls and compliance. Mr. Terry's leadership has also been instrumental in founding the Center for Internal Audit on campus in 2020. This center leverages student interns and professional staff to deliver internal audit, consulting and financial services to organizations, focusing on higher education and state agencies.

Before joining the university, Mr. Terry was an internal auditor at Portland Community College from 2011 to 2014. His career also included several other similar roles, including as the senior auditor for the Secretary of State-Oregon Audits Division, where he worked as a staff auditor between 2003 and 2005 before advancing to senior auditor from 2006 to 2011. He also excelled as an internal auditor for the Oregon University System between 2005 and 2006. Throughout his career, Mr. Terry has been recognized for his high-level work, notably completing a two-year federal audit and successfully appealing findings raised by federal auditors.

Mr. Terry's academic foundation was laid at Eastern Oregon University, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with a focus on accounting and management in 2003. His achievements during his academic tenure included being named the President's Scholar in 2003 and earning All-American honors in indoor track and field. Encouraged by his accounting professor to obtain a Certified Public Accountant license promptly after graduation, Mr. Terry followed this advice, earning his designation through the Oregon Board of Accountancy in 2005, which proved pivotal in his career trajectory. Additionally, he holds several other professional credentials that have bolstered his professional standing, including as a Certified Internal Auditor from the Institute of Internal Auditors, credentials as a Certified Fraud Examiner from the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and with an information technology general controls certificate from The Institute of Internal Auditors.

Active in his professional community, Mr. Terry is a member of the Association of College and University Auditors and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. He previously contributed significantly as the chair of the Higher Education Coordinating Commission audit committee and was an audit committee member for the Portland chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors. and the Oregon Department of Education.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Terry is dedicated to civic engagement through volunteer work with Foothills Community Church's Backpack Buddies program and coaching distance running and track and field for Molalla High School. He has also volunteered at Mulino Elementary School for several years. Mr. Terry's passion for writing is evident through his contributions to the College and University Auditor Journal, where he has published five articles as author and co-author.

Looking ahead, Mr. Terry aspires to expand the professional services offered at Portland State University across Oregon and the Pacific Northwest, focusing on internal audit, consulting and compliance review services.
