Sweetwater, known for its distribution of musical instruments, benefited from his meticulous approach to safety and compliance. Prior to this role, he was a senior operations manager at JB Products from 2021 to 2022, where he played a pivotal role in operational management.

Mr. Smith's career is characterized by a series of leadership roles in various industries. From 2019 to 2021, he was a plant manager at Weaver Popcorn, where he maintained an impeccable safety record with no severe accidents or injuries reported under his supervision. His earlier roles include a plant manager and corporate EH&S manager at D&W Fine Pack from 2017 to 2019, a plant manager at Sonoco from 2016 to 2017 and a plant manager and corporate engineering manager at Pretzel's Incorporated from 2013 to 2016. Each position underscored his ability to integrate engineering tasks with environmental health and safety responsibilities.

In addition to his professional achievements, Mr. Smith founded Leaders in Operations, Manufacturing, Engineering & EH&S in the Fort Wayne area in 2012, where he served as the vice president and director of operations manufacturing until 2013. His earlier tenure at Colwell Inc., spanning from 1996 to 2012, saw him rise from the director of engineering and EH&S to the vice president of Indiana operations. Throughout these roles, Mr. Smith demonstrated a commitment to fostering leadership among his team members.

Mr. Smith's academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Purdue University. His education laid the foundation for his technical expertise and informed his approach to engineering and safety management throughout his career. He holds several certifications that have further enhanced his capabilities, including life and health insurance and property and casualty insurance certifications from the State of Indiana, obtained in 2020, an OSHA 30-hour certificate from the OSHA Safety Training Institute in 2019 and an incident commander certification from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in 2002.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Smith is actively involved in civic activities such as charitable bike rides for the Diabetes Association and Cancer Society.
