As the owner, president and chief executive officer of Grizzly Bear Safety and Security Consulting LLC since 2023, he offers extensive advice and assistance to companies, facilitates training sessions, helps develop programs and prepares them for inspections. His expertise as a subject matter expert and an expert witness in civil lawsuits related to occupational safety underscores his profound knowledge in industrial and occupational safety.

Prior to his current role, Mr. Grzybowski served as the assistant area director for the United States Department of Labor from 2020 to 2023. Before this position, he was a compliance safety and health officer with the same department from 2015 to 2019. His tenure at the Department of Labor was preceded by his role as an environmental health and safety facilities engineer at Smiths Detection from 2014 to 2015. Earlier, he was the environmental health and safety compliance director at US Waterways Transportation LLC from 2012 to 2013. His leadership skills were further honed as the general manager of the Port Washington Marine Terminal at Buchanan Marine LP from 2010 to 2012, following his role as vessel compliance and safety manager at the same company from 2005 to 2010.

Mr. Grzybowski's military service is equally commendable. He began his career as a surface warfare officer in the United States Navy from 1982 to 1990 on multiple afloat and ashore assignments, including direct fire support for the Marines in Lebanon during the 1984 attack on the Marine barracks.

He later transitioned to the United States Army, where he held various roles, such as chief of the counterintelligence branch at the United States European Command from 2001 to 2003 and staff officer at the United States Army Security Studies Activity from 1996 to 2000. His military career included positions as Bravo Company commander of the 716th Military Intelligence Battalion, counterintelligence branch chief for Joint Task Force 190 in Port au Prince, Haiti, and division counterintelligence officer for the 2nd Infantry Division in Uijongbu, Republic of Korea.

Academically, Mr. Grzybowski holds a Master of Science in safety, security and emergency management from Eastern Kentucky University, earned in 2015. He also obtained a Master of Business Administration from Loyola University in 1999 and a Bachelor of Arts in geography from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1982. He is a 2001 graduate of the NATO Defense College in Rome, Italy, with an emphasis on international military planning and strategy. His educational background has been instrumental in his professional achievements, providing him with a solid foundation in strategic planning and management.

In addition to his academic credentials, Mr. Grzybowski is credentialed by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals as a graduate safety practitioner.

Mr. Grzybowski's dedication to excellence is reflected in being awarded the 2023 and 2022 Secretary of Labor Worker Protection Award as well as his numerous military awards, including the Legion of Merit.

He is also an active member of industry, academic and military organizations, such as the American Society of Safety Professionals, Phi Kappa Phi, the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
