GUILFORD, CT, June 13, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Robert Hilary Kane, PhD, former philosophy educator with The University of Texas at Austin, was recognized by Marquis Who's Who with a prominent feature in the April/May 2025 Connecticut regional edition of Forbes magazine.
Well-regarded for his expertise in the humanities and tenure as a philosophy educator, Dr. Kane accrued 45 years of experience prior to his retirement in 2009. Joining the faculty at The University of Texas at Austin in 1974, he served as an associate professor for nine years before rising to the rank of full professor of philosophy in 1985. From there, Dr. Kane was recognized as a university distinguished teaching professor of philosophy from 1995 until attaining emeritus status in 2009. Earlier in his career, he was an Alfred E. Sloan assistant professor of philosophy at Haverford College, having commenced his career in 1964 as an assistant professor of philosophy at Fordham University.
Dr. Kane was a prolific author and award-winning philosopher in his own right, having lent decades of knowledge to the study, interpretation and implementation of the concept of free will. Most recently, he published "The Complex Tapestry of Free Will: A Philosophical Odyssey." Having emphasized the interconnection between free will and ethics, Dr. Kane addressed pluralism and uncertainty in the quest to find the truth. Dr. Kane noted that these works endeavor to find common ground in a world of conflicting ethical views with an underlying theme of unity.
In all his written works, Dr. Kane examined topics such as moral and legal responsibility, values, free will, ethics and the modern experience in a pluralistic world. In light of his expertise, he was invited to speak at conferences across the globe. Although he experienced many career milestones, he was particularly proud of the dissemination of his work around the world, which has influenced and inspired fellow scholars and philosophers.
