Her role also involves reviewing and updating patients' medical histories, ensuring that each individual receives the highest standard of care. Her expertise in pre-anesthesia testing is particularly noteworthy, reflecting her dedication to mastering complex aspects of her profession.

Prior to her current position, Ms. Milligan contributed significantly to St. Joseph Medical Center. Her tenure there further honed her skills and prepared her for the challenges she would later face at the University of Kansas Health System. Her earlier career was marked by a long-standing association with CoxHealth from 1992 to 2007. During this time, she made diverse contributions across various capacities, most notably in neurotrauma. Collaborating closely with neurosurgeons and a nurse, she organized a Certified Neuroscience Registered Nurse review course that achieved a 100% pass rate for participants. This accomplishment not only enhanced patient care but also garnered positive feedback from neurosurgeons, affirming the impact of her efforts.

Ms. Milligan's educational background laid a strong foundation for her successful career. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Bachelor of Applied Science from Graceland University in 1978. Her certifications as a certified emergency nurse, critical care registered nurse and certified neuroscience registered nurse further underscore her commitment to professional development and excellence.

Throughout her career, Ms. Milligan has been recognized for her contributions to nursing. She was honored as a Magnet Champion by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, an accolade that highlights her dedication to advancing nursing practice and improving patient outcomes. Her success can be attributed to clear goals, strong determination and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

Ms. Milligan's personal philosophy is deeply influenced by her Christian faith, which emphasizes forgiveness and understanding. She believes that learning to forgive those who have hurt us is essential for personal growth and peace. This perspective has guided her interactions with others and helped her navigate challenges throughout her career.

As a nurse, Ms. Milligan believes there's truly no other profession that helps individuals gain a clearer perspective on what constitutes a real problem and what doesn't warrant excessive concern. Outside of her professional life, Ms. Milligan enjoys camping with her family, cherishing the moments spent together in nature. Looking ahead, she plans to retire in the coming years and hopes to write a book on how to raise a valedictorian, inspired by her son's academic achievements.
