NEW ORLEANS, LA, June 13, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jennifer Fernandez, MSN, RN, CPN, dean of nursing at Delgado Community College Charity School of Nursing, was selected by Marquis Who's Who for a prominent feature in the April/May 2025 New Orleans/Baton Rouge regional edition of Forbes magazine.

Leveraging a wealth of professional experience spanning more than 17 years, Ms. Fernandez has established herself as a highly esteemed figure within the realms of nursing and academia. Commencing her tenure as the dean of nursing at the Charity School of Nursing of Delgado Community College in New Orleans in 2024, Ms. Fernandez assumes a pivotal role in overseeing curricula, student conduct and the college's media and public relations. Her areas of expertise encompass nursing education and pediatric oncology. Ms. Fernandez's journey at Delgado Community College began in 2014 when she assumed the position of an adjunct instructor, progressing to an instructor of nursing in 2016. From 2020 to 2022, she served as an assistant professor of nursing, followed by her appointment as assistant dean from 2022 to 2024.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Fernandez was a registered nurse at East Jefferson General Hospital from 2010 to 2011 and launched her career as a registered nurse at the Children's Hospital of New Orleans from 2007 to 2015. Over the course of her career, she has been revered for her staunch advocacy of patients and colleagues alike, having been appointed to several improvement committees. Congruent with her present work, she is a peer evaluator for the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing and has served as the president of the Louisiana chapter of the Society of Pediatric Nurses.

In accounting for her success, Ms. Fernandez credits the influence of her father, who taught her the significance of caring for others and encouraged her to enter the health care industry. Among her many career milestones, she is particularly proud of receiving numerous recognitions and accolades as a nursing educator and health care professional. To wit, she is grateful for being provided opportunities to travel across the country as an accreditation board peer evaluator to evaluate other nursing schools toward their accreditation status. Looking toward the future, Ms. Fernandez endeavors to escalate to another executive position with Delgado Community College. She would also like to finish her doctoral studies, with a prospective graduation date of 2027.

EDUCATION HIGHLIGHTS
Ms. Fernandez pursued a formal education at Delgado Community College. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from William Carey University in 2007 and a Master of Science in nursing education from the University of Saint Mary in 2016. With ambitions to complete a doctoral degree in nursing education and administration by 2027, Ms. Fernandez also holds certifications as a pediatric nurse and a Team STEPPS Master Trainer.
