MISSION VIEJO, CA, June 16, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Richard N. "Dick" Gray has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Gray has dedicated over five decades to the printing services and promotional products industries and marked his 55th anniversary in October 2024. As president of the disabled veteran-owned DVE Global Marketing Inc. since 2010, he has led the company's mission to provide brand management and marketing strategies with a focus on innovation and adaptability by looking beyond the business horizon.
Mr. Gray began his storied career in sales with the National Cash Register Company (NCR) in October 1969 and has worked for several companies since then. This includes his work with the technology transfer group at NASA, where he further expanded his range of expertise in sales, marketing and technology innovations. After leaving NASA when his contract project was completed, Mr. Gray established Xtension Technologies Inc. In this capacity, he collaborated with companies using financial accounting software systems to provide them with dedicated secure MICR laser printers, specialty MICR toner cartridges and post-check printing processing equipment.
To augment his knowledge and qualifications, Mr. Gray has world-class expertise as a certified document consultant (CDC), a certified forms consultant (CFC), a Microsoft authorized printing partner (MAPP) and a certified software engineer (CSE). He gained his expertise in anti-counterfeiting and anti-forgery regarding checks and other documents from years of practical exposure and advanced education at a government-authorized training center. His extensive experience highlights his expert status in working with general and negotiable documents across all phases of public and private companies and government agencies.
Determined to help future generations navigate the field of cybersecurity, Mr. Gray has delivered presentations on protecting small businesses from document fraud, financial fraud and cybersecurity breaches to graduate school students, major corporations and police departments. Additionally, he spent 10 years as an instructor in check design, check processing and document security with industry-recognized associations. In 2000, he was honored as the Man of the Year by an industry association for his decades of contributions and advancements in the field.
Mr. Gray's military service included duty in Vietnam as an infantry platoon leader in the United States Army. While leading his platoon in a night operation in Vietnam in 1968, he sustained significant shrapnel wounds to both legs and major hearing loss in one ear. He was returned to the United States, where he spent many months recuperating, recovering, and learning how to walk again. His dedication and perseverance allowed him to succeed and return to active duty as an instructor in map reading and land navigation, a company commander of a training company and, later, a brigade-level intelligence officer. Having fulfilled a variety of duties, his military experience significantly influenced his professional journey throughout the years.
Academically, Mr. Gray earned a bachelor's degree in business management and marketing along with related support services from California State University, Fullerton in 1970. Along with his diverse experiences during his military service, his education played a key role in shaping his longstanding career as a business owner and innovator in printing services and promotional advertising.
Known for his contributions as a civic-minded citizen, Mr. Gray has been actively involved in Little League as an umpire for 10 years. Additionally, he mentors disabled veterans from the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts to help them secure employment and volunteers with the Veterans Legal Institute, which provides pro bono legal services to veterans and their families. He also worked for many years as a volunteer cook at a battered women's shelter.
In his personal life, Mr. Gray is supported by his wife — a successful textile chemist who founded a prominent fashion design and sewing school — and their two highly accomplished children. Looking to the future with determination, he aspires to continue sharing his knowledge on check fraud and security breaches to help others protect their businesses from potential threats. His legacy is defined by an unwavering desire to enrich his community and serve society at large.
