CINCINNATI, OH, June 17, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bogdan J. Dzakovic, MS, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Dzakovic's life and career have been marked by resilience, dedication and a commitment to public service. Born to immigrant parents who settled in Middletown, Ohio, he faced significant challenges early in life, including being orphaned by the age of eight. This formative experience instilled in Mr. Dzakovic a deep empathy and a drive to protect others, shaping his future career in law enforcement and antiterrorism.

Beginning his professional journey with his service in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1979 to 1986, Mr. Dzakovic achieved the rank of lieutenant before receiving an honorable discharge. As part of a multi-agency task force he earned a Special Achievement award from the Drug Enforcement Administration for "Outstanding Contributions in the Field of Drug Law Enforcement." His military experience laid the foundation for his subsequent roles in federal law enforcement, having become a special agent with the Naval Investigative Service (as it was called then) in the Greater Chicago area in 1986.

In 1988 he transferred to the Security Division of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) with career highlights of serving as an Air Marshal Team Leader in the early 1990's, and in the latter 1990's served as a Team Leader in the Red Team (which was established as a result of the PanAm 103 bombing and whose mission was to determine how effective security was in preventing another terror attack as well as predict the next most likely attack so that effective countermeasures can be instituted to thwart that attack); and he did just that. In this capacity he learned to think like a terrorist.

By 1999 he knew that the 9/11 attacks were imminent, he just didn't know when. Working with two other individuals (Steve Elson and Brian Sullivan) they took their concerns through a deliberately dysfunctional federal bureaucracy including the FAA, the Department of Transportation, and the General Accounting Office (as it was called then). Failing to get them to enhance security to prevent the inevitable attack they went directly to individual members of Congress (whose job is to maintain oversite of the executive branch) and discovered that trying to influence Congress with a logicał argument and a ton of documentation in the public interest was a pointless exercise. What was needed was a briefcase full of money - which they didn't have.

After 9/11 he filed a whistleblower disclosure against the FAA with the United States Office of Special Counsel (OSC) which reports directly to the President. The OSC subsequently agreed with his allegations stating, "FAA executed its civil aviation security mission in a manner that was a substantial and specific danger to public safety." He testified in front of the 9/11 Commission but none of his evidence is contained within their best-selling book. He is listed as a footnote on page 441. He spent the first half of his career developing the expertise to identify the ever evolving threat of terrorism and attempted to prevent the attack; and spent the latter half of his career buried in an entry level staff position and hounded by a vengeful bureaucracy. While most of the people responsible for allowing the attacks to occur received promotions and were transferred to TSA. He survived the government until retirement in 2014.

Mr. Dzakovic's educational background began with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Cincinnati in 1977, followed by a Master of Science in security administration from Northeastern University, completed in 1984. These academic achievements gave him a strong foundation for understanding human behavior and organizational systems, which proved invaluable throughout his career.

Beyond his professional roles, Mr. Dzakovic is an active member of several civic organizations dedicated to transparency and government accountability. He is involved with the Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity and the former National Security Whistleblowers Coalition. Mr. Dzakovic's contributions to these groups reflect his ongoing commitment to challenging corruption and advocating for rational security policies.

In 2016, Mr. Dzakovic authored "Fortress of Deceit: The Story of a 9/11 Whistleblower," published via CreateSpace, which details his experiences as a whistleblower and his insights into systemic issues within federal agencies. His current endeavors include writing new articles to influence public policy and advocating for reform within the Transportation Security Administration. Mr. Dzakovic consistently promotes justice and transparency through these efforts while challenging entrenched bureaucratic systems.

Mr. Dzakovic is featured in the documentary film, Please Remove Your Shoes, by Executive Producer Fred Gevalt.
