His tenure with Harford County Public Schools at North Harford Middle School from 1978 to 2008 saw him excel as a music teacher, choral director and administrative designee. Prior to his long-standing service in Harford County, Mr. Westberry began his teaching career at Silver Bluff Elementary School in Miami, Florida, from 1974 to 1978. This foundational experience laid the groundwork for his future accomplishments in music education. Over the years, as he refined his skills in both music education and administration, Mr. Westberry also served as an evaluator and adjudicator for county choral festivals, solo and ensemble festivals.

Mr. Westberry's academic achievements have been integral to his professional success. He earned a Master of Education in educational management and supervision from Loyola University in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1987. Additionally, he holds a Bachelor of Science in music education from Florida International University. Mr. Westberry's academic background is further complemented by a principal certification from the National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education and Certification, which he obtained in 1987.

Throughout his career, Mr. Westberry has been recognized for his contributions to education. He is a four-time recipient of the Who's Who Among American Teachers award and has received three Harford County Curriculum Development Awards for his innovative approaches to teaching. These accolades underscore his commitment to excellence and his impact on students' lives.

Mr. Westberry's professional affiliations include membership in the National Association for Music Education and the American Choral Directors Association, reflecting his dedication to staying connected with industry developments and contributing to the broader field of music education. Beyond his professional life, Mr. Westberry was actively involved in civic organizations such as the New Directions Vocal Group at Riverside Baptist Church.

In his personal life, Mr. Westberry finds joy in attending Broadway theater, dining out with his wife, playing golf, completing his extensive family genealogy, and fishing in the Gulf of Mexico. As he looks to the future, his goal is to maintain his health and vitality, allowing him to continue enjoying time outdoors, caring for his home and traveling with his wife.
