Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Barnette has established herself as a distinguished professional in the field of human capital, with a career spanning over 15 years. Currently serving as a human capital specialist master at Deloitte, she is responsible for overseeing client delivery, leading internal initiatives and creating intellectual capital that impacts the firm. Holding this position since 2022, her focus has recently shifted from diversity, equity and inclusion to workforce development, with an emphasis on wellbeing. She also played a pivotal role in developing a training tool that encourages staff to prioritize their well-being and foster a healthy workplace culture.

Prior to her current role, Ms. Barnette was deeply involved with the Florida League of Cities from 2016 to 2022. Initially joining as an assistant to the director, she quickly advanced to become a training specialist focusing on diversity, equity, inclusion, ethics and leadership. Her dedication led her to the position of membership relations ambassador and chair of the DEI council. During her tenure, she also became a liaison to the Florida Black Caucus for local elected officials and was recognized for her commitment to fostering a collaborative environment.

Earlier in her career, from 2010 to 2015, Ms. Barnette worked with the District of Columbia Public Schools, holding various roles including central office staffing specialist and program manager for the Urban Leaders Education Internship Program. It was in this position that her passion for human capital emerged as she worked to improve hiring practices and oversee numerous interns. The preceding year, she contributed as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center after initially serving as a judicial clerk with the Maryland Circuit Courts.

Educationally, Ms. Barnette earned her Juris Doctor in education law and policy from Georgetown University Law Center in 2007 and a Bachelor of Science in sociology and business administration from Towson University in 2004. Further enhancing her expertise, she obtained a professional certification in intercultural, multicultural and diversity studies from Cornell University in 2018.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Ms. Barnette is actively involved in civic organizations, such as Swing Phi Swing Social Fellowship, Incorporated, where she serves as president of the local Florida chapter. She is also associated with Bounce Back Empowerment Academy and provides mental health resources and physical necessities for those in need.

Ms. Barnette is deeply influenced by strong mentors and leaders who modeled the balance between compassion and professional excellence. Inspired by her father's example of community service from a young age, she has long embraced a servant leadership philosophy. She strives to care for others while maintaining high standards, drawing daily motivation from those who shaped her values.

Outside her primary career path, Ms. Barnette's accomplishments include publishing chapters in two books and receiving numerous accolades, such as the Team Leader Award in 2024 for prioritizing team wellbeing, high ratings for leadership and team building and Employee of the Year at DC Public Schools in 2014. She is also a member of Phi Alpha Delta, reflecting her dedication to continuous learning and professional growth.

In addition to her career achievements, Ms. Barnette is passionate about relationship consulting and officiating weddings through her personal consulting practice, Becoming Yoked LLC. She plans to expand these services while continuing to develop workforce programs that integrate technology with human capabilities. Her forthcoming book "Becoming Yoked" aims to further explore these themes.
