Ms. Chatman's educational background has been instrumental in her career achievements. She earned a master's degree in elementary education with a focus on STEM from the University of Missouri-Saint Louis in 2021. Additionally, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in biology with a pre-med concentration from Fisk University, which she completed in 2008. Ms. Chatman's passion for education is deeply rooted in her family history, as her aunt is a retired teacher who inspired her to pursue a career in teaching. Beyond her professional commitments, Ms. Chatman is actively involved in civic organizations. She serves as the health chair for Continental Societies Inc., is a member of the Saint Louis HBCU Alumni Association, and contributes to Services for the Children and the Community at True Light Missionary Baptist Church as a tutor. Her dedication extends to tutoring high school geometry students and elementary students, further demonstrating her commitment to fostering educational growth.
Ms. Chatman's accomplishments have been recognized through numerous awards and honors. She was named Secondary Mathematics Educator of the Year by Saint Louis Public Schools in 2023 and received the district-wide Educator of the Year award the same year. In 2020, she was a finalist for the Loeb Prize at the Saint Louis Science Center, highlighting her excellence in teaching mathematics and science. Additionally, she was a finalist for America's Favorite Teacher in 2024.
In her personal life, Ms. Chatman enjoys working on puzzles, reading, walking in the park and appreciating nature's beauty. Looking ahead, she aims to earn a doctorate degree and hopes to establish a boarding school where children can feel safe and supported while pursuing their academic ambitions.
