Edwards Deming — the prominent industrial engineer, business theorist and consultant who promoted Japanese principles of improving product life cycles throughout North America —he continues his own efforts to eliminate waste in both his professional and personal life.

Academically, Mr. Johnson completed college coursework that laid a strong foundation for his professional achievements. To augment his knowledge and qualifications, he is certified in statistics for data analysis using Microsoft Excel by Quality Gurus Inc., which has been vital to his work as a reliability engineer. His father, David Clifford Johnson, who overcame polio to earn a master's degree in mathematics, inspired his son's interest in math and has served as a significant influence throughout his life.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Johnson has served his community as an ordained minister with the Universal Life Church for eight years. In his personal life, he enjoys writing and reading academic books, particularly those focused on mathematics. Also a devoted family man, he has been happily married for more than 20 years and has three sons, two grandsons and two granddaughters.

Looking to the future with optimism, Mr. Johnson aims to use the coming years to complete a paper discussing the design of experiments and statistical analysis as part of a research group studying aging and health care for cancer patients.
