DRAPER, UT, June 23, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Nicholas B. Cooper has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who in America. Mr. Cooper has established a distinguished career in environmental engineering, which is marked by his expertise and leadership. As senior project manager and vice president at AECOM, he has been instrumental in overseeing significant projects nationally and globally since 1994. His role involves approving contracts, serving as a senior project manager and working with clients through various stages of design, construction and commissioning. Additionally, he imparts his knowledge to his team by teaching them how to effectively manage client relationships. Mr. Cooper also directs a comprehensive 10-month course in wastewater treatment, educating students from around the globe, including Europe, the Middle East and Asia. He was a contributing editor for two highly acclaimed textbooks in the field, Wastewater Engineering, Treatment and Resource Recovery (2013), and Water Reuse (2007), by Metcalf & Eddy, Inc.

Mr. Cooper was with Metcalf and Eddy Inc. in Atlanta from 1994 to 2000 before the firm was acquired by AECOM. During this period, he held multiple roles, including department lead of the water group, project manager and design manager. His work involved designing water and wastewater treatment plants worldwide. Notably, he was pivotal in the $1.2 billion expansion of the largest wastewater treatment plant in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. As design manager for the Al Ansab sewage treatment plant design for Muscat, Oman, he delivered one of the largest membrane bioreactor (MBR) projects in the Middle East. His ability to foster goodwill with clients and consistently deliver successful projects without financial losses is a testament to his professional acumen.

Mr. Cooper earned a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Cornell University in 1970. He furthered his education with coursework in environmental engineering at the University of Arizona. These academic achievements laid the foundation for his successful career in environmental engineering. He is a registered professional engineer in seven states. Mr. Cooper attributes his success to patience and a steadfast belief that there is always a solution to any challenge.

Mr. Cooper's career began as an assistant civil engineer for the New York Board of Water Supply, monitoring construction of the new Water Tunnel No. 3 for the City of New York. His first consulting engineering position was with Brinnier & Larios P.C. in Kingston, New York, where he was a project manager for municipal clients from 1974 to 1978. He joined Brown and Caldwell in Tucson, Arizona in 1978, quickly advancing to senior project manager, and eventually chief engineer of the firm's Florida operations. Over his 16-year tenure there, he managed projects throughout the Southwest, Florida, Georgia and North Carolina. He was responsible for more than 20 water and wastewater treatment projects, and major pipeline programs in Arizona, Alaska and Florida.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. Cooper is actively involved in industry-related organizations. He has been a diplomat of the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists since 1992 and is affiliated with the Water Environment Federation and the American Water Works Association. His contributions to the field have been recognized with multiple top project awards in Arizona and Georgia and company awards for client service.

Beyond his professional life, Mr. Cooper is committed to civic engagement as a donor to various organizations. His dedication extends beyond engineering projects to making meaningful contributions to society through philanthropy.

Mr. Cooper lives with his wife of more than 47 years, Deborah (Freeman), and their son James. His experiences have undoubtedly shaped his approach to life and work, underscoring the importance of family values and professional excellence.
