Now retired, he served as an interim pastor for the Minnesota District Council Assemblies of God in 2014 after dedicating nearly a decade as the senior pastor at Triumphant Life Church in Lonsdale and Faribault, Minnesota, from 2004 to 2013, and was lauded for founding and leading two churches.

Before his tenure at the church, Mr. Mixer excelled as the chief executive officer of Logos Media Network in Overland Park, Kansas, in 2002, as an accountant director at Grizzard in Atlanta from 2001 to 2002, and as the director of church relations at Cross Pointe Network in Olathe, Kansas, in 2000. He also served as an assistant director of volunteer ministries at the American Bible Society from 1999 to 2004.

Mr. Mixer's tenure with the American Bible Society was particularly significant as he was an associate director of Bible reading programs from 1999 to 2000 and the program manager for the 1999 Year of the Bible between 1997 and 1999. As a field representative from 1988 to 1997, he liaised with U.S. Armed Forces throughout the 1990s. Mr. Mixer's earlier pastoral roles included senior pastor positions at Odessa First Assembly of God in Missouri between 1984 and 1987, Richmond Assembly of God in Missouri from 1983 to 1984, and Manchester Assembly of God in Iowa between 1980 and 1983.

Highly educated, Mr. Mixer received a Bachelor of Arts in bible and pastoral studies from Northcentral University in 1977 and a Master of Ministry in pastoral studies from International Seminary in Florida in 1983. He also pursued coursework in business administration at the University of Phoenix. Mr. Mixer's education laid a strong foundation for his career achievements and ability to guide others effectively. Moreover, he has held credentials as a licensed pastor since 1977 and ordained pastor with the Assemblies of God since 1982.

Mr. Mixer has been involved in various civic organizations. He has been the director of District 16 Toastmasters International since 2024, after initially serving as a quality director from 2023 to 2024. His efforts have included starting numerous new clubs, showcasing his commitment to expanding opportunities for individuals to develop their communication skills. Mr. Mixer's journey with Toastmasters began in 1996, and he has since become a mentor and a guiding force within the organization. His contributions have been recognized with numerous awards, including the Distinguished Toastmaster Award and the Toastmasters International District Program Quality Award in 2024.

A prolific author, Mr. Mixer has penned several books, including "Disturbed Thinking: One-Hundred-Forty-Two Musings on the Bible," "Fruitful Living: A Study of the Fruit of the Spirit from Galatians 5," "Nine Principles for a Fruitful Career," "Gather That Harvest" and "Perseverance." These works reflect his deep understanding of ministry and personal growth.

Mr. Mixer attributes much of his success to perseverance and strategic thinking. Looking ahead, he is working on repositioning his book "Fruitful Living" for business clientele and exploring business seminars based on insights from his books. Mr. Mixer is also writing a sequel to "Disturbed Thinking" and a new book, "Perseverance," drawing on his personal experiences with resilience and humor.
