ARLINGTON, VA, June 25, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Carylynn Kemp Larson, PhD, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Dr. Larson is a nationally recognized expert in executive coaching, leadership development, and workplace mental health, with more than two decades of experience helping organizations build thriving, people-centered cultures. She serves as principal of Creating Open Space LLC and as a consultant and coach with Churchill Leadership Group, partnering with senior leadership teams to improve team dynamics, strategic alignment, and goal execution. Through her speaking engagements, coaching, and facilitation, she is known for creating space where even the most skeptical leaders can engage deeply and lead with clarity.
Dr. Larson began her academic journey with a Bachelor of Science in biological psychology from Centre College, where she developed a deep interest in the brain, behavior, and the science of human flourishing. While her early research focused on neurology, she soon realized her calling lay not in the lab but in transforming the systems where people live and work. That insight led her to pursue a PhD in industrial/organizational psychology at George Mason University, shifting her focus from neurons to the dynamics of teams, leaders, and organizations.
Early in her career, she worked with the U.S. Army Research Institute, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, and the National Science Foundation, applying behavioral science to real-world leadership and workforce challenges. In parallel with her consulting work, she has held faculty appointments at The George Washington University and the U.S. Naval Academy, and she currently teaches coaching skills to public servants at American University—continuing her commitment to public service and leadership development.
Dr. Larson is a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) with the International Coaching Federation and holds multiple certifications reflecting her deep commitment to lifelong learning and professional excellence. She's an active member of the International Leadership Association, the American Psychological Association, and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology.
In addition to her academic and consulting work, Dr. Larson is the author of two books—The Coaching Companion and Leverage Your Leader-Coach—which help individuals and organizations maximize the value of their coaching investments.
She is also the creator of the ROI Estimator, a practical tool that enables users to efficiently and effectively gauge the financial impact of coaching and leadership development.
One of her most notable achievements was designing and leading global culture initiatives at eBay, including the development of a coaching culture and, later, a culture of candid communication. These initiatives helped eBay thrive as a company that leverages culture as a strategic asset—one that emphasizes results, holistic impact, and shared values to drive performance, innovation, and success in a competitive and rapidly evolving marketplace.
Dr. Larson is also the founder of Rock Recovery, a mental health nonprofit she launched in 2008 to bridge treatment gaps and build compassionate systems of care. She has held multiple leadership roles there, including executive director and board president.
In 2025, she launched Break|Through, a keynote that tackles the intersection of leadership and mental health with clarity, candor, and compassion. The talk challenges conventional approaches to workplace wellbeing and calls leaders to create "healing community" at work—spaces where performance and mental health are not in competition, but in partnership.
Her impact spans industries, from Fortune 100 companies to federal agencies, and her clients include attorneys, scientists, and senior military leaders.
Passionate about blending research, strategy, and humanity, Dr. Larson continues to shape the future of work—empowering leaders to coach boldly, lead with integrity, and make mental health not just a priority, but a defining strength of high-performing, human-centered organizations.
