Mr. Daughtry's journey through the ranks of the New York City Police Department includes his appointment as a detective 1st grade from 2022 to 2023. Before that, he served as a detective 2nd grade from 2020 to 2022 and as a detective specialist from 2015 to 2020. He started his career with NYCPD as a police officer, a position he held from 2006 to 2015. Mr. Daughtry developed a passion for law enforcement from a young age. His mother, who worked a modest job and relied on his late father's Social Security benefits, encouraged him to find his passion and remains thrilled by her son's achievements throughout his career, recognizing them as barrier-breaking accomplishments. Mr. Daughtry's educational background has played a crucial role in his professional success. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in liberal arts from Empire State University. Additionally, he completed coursework in crisis, emergency and disaster management at Frederick Community College in 2005 and studied criminal justice and police science at Briarcliffe College the same year. His academic pursuits also included coursework in criminal justice and corrections at LaGuardia Community College.

Beyond his professional responsibilities, Mr. Daughtry maintains a strong connection with younger generations, including his own children.
