HOUSTON, TX, June 30, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Allen Jones has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Marked by a longstanding commitment to storytelling and community engagement, Mr. Jones has carved a distinguished career in journalism and communications. His vocational journey began at The Potpourri, a community newspaper serving Tomball and Magnolia, Texas. Starting as a reporter, he quickly ascended to become the managing editor and eventually editor over nearly 10 years. Under his leadership, The Potpourri became one of the first small newspapers to establish a robust online presence, gaining recognition from major outlets like CNN. This achievement both highlighted his innovative approach and connected him to the Houston Chronicle, which later acquired The Potpourri.

In 2009, Mr. Jones founded A.J. Publications, where he served as president and built a diverse team of writers, graphic designers and social media marketing specialists before joining hibu — a subsidiary of Yellow Pages — as its North Houston publications manager in 2012. At hibu, he managed operations for lifestyle magazines in the greater Houston area, pioneering a unique approach that integrated local community content akin to a social media platform. This experimental initiative concluded in 2014 but left a lasting impact on his career trajectory.

Following his tenure at hibu, Mr. Jones returned to freelance journalism under contract with the Houston Chronicle from 2010 to 2017. Covering diverse communities and individuals within Houston, he leveraged his extensive experience to inform and engage readers. In 2017, he transitioned to the Texas Association of Public Employee Retirement Systems as its director of communications and event marketing. In his current role, he oversees public relations and communication efforts while managing event planning and marketing for educational forums and conferences.

Mr. Jones' academic background includes a bachelor's degree in journalism and mass communication from The University of Arizona Global Campus, completed in 2016. Known for his dedication to continued learning and adaptation in the constantly evolving realm of journalism, he has obtained multiple artificial intelligence (AI) certifications from Writing.io and has taken courses on conference programming and marketing strategies through platforms like Udemy and Coursera. To augment his leadership skills, he also completed human rights education training at the United States Institute of Diplomacy and Human Rights.

Throughout his career, Mr. Jones has been recognized for his contributions to journalism with awards such as first place for education and school district issues reporting and third place for business and local economy coverage from Suburban Newspapers of America in 2008. Also known for his involvement in civic activities, he served in public and media relations for the Tomball Centennial Commission from 2007 to 2008, connecting the newspaper even more closely to its community.

A member of industry-related organizations such as the Public Relations Society of America and the Society of Professional Journalists since 2017, Mr. Jones continues to expand his professional network and expertise. Inspired by a high school teacher who owned a local newspaper, he remains as passionate as ever about journalism's power to inform and connect individuals and communities.

As he looks toward the future, Mr. Jones is eager to further contribute to the Texas Association of Public Employee Retirement Systems' growth and success. Committed to a philosophy of personal development and exploring new opportunities within the organization, he remains driven by a desire to effectively serve its members and his community.
