Ms. Astafan has carved a remarkable path in both military and literary fields, demonstrating her leadership and resilience. Her career began with an illustrious tenure in the U.S. Air Force, where she served for nearly 40 years. In 1998, she achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first female to rise to the rank of two-star Major General in the Air Force Reserve. This groundbreaking achievement underscored Ms. Astafan's exceptional leadership in a predominantly male field and marked a significant moment in military history.

Immediately following her military career, General Astafan was selected to be the CEO of a not-for-profit company, The Federal Technology Center. She served for 10 years leading her tremendously talented and effective team members who were teaching small businesses how to do business with local, state and federal governments. Under her leadership, the Center was declared as #number 1 of the 93 centers located throughout the United States.

Following her distinguished military career, Ms. Astafan transitioned into authorship. In 2023, she published "Lady Leader Leaves Lasting Legacy: From the Cotton Patch to the Pentagon and Beyond," a work that reflects on her extensive experiences and contributions. Her writing not only highlights her personal journey but also serves as an inspiration to others, showcasing her ability to lead and innovate across different domains.

Ms. Astafan's academic background laid a strong foundation for her professional achievements. She holds a Bachelor of Science from The University of Alabama and two master's degrees from California State University, Sacramento, one in early childhood education and another in international affairs. These educational accomplishments provided Ms. Astafan with a diverse skill set that was instrumental in her success both in the military and as an author.

Reflecting on her professional journey, Ms. Astafan recognizes that her upbringing played a crucial role in shaping her values and work ethic. Raised by parents who emphasized community, self-sufficiency and education, she learned the importance of hard work and independence from an early age. This strong foundation not only propelled Ms. Astafan's own career but also influenced her siblings, who have found success in various fields.

In addition to her professional endeavors, Ms. Astafan is actively involved in civic organizations. She serves as a trustee for the Aerospace Museum of California and is affiliated with the California Veterans Board, which is part of the California Department of Veterans Affairs, and at one time she served on the California Veterans Board; including leading as chairperson for one term. She also served, as well, on 19 other boards of directors, all for no pay and all of these were for causes she believed in and mostly pertained to small children, technology, veterans and senior citizen organizations. All non-profit. Her commitment to these organizations reflects her dedication to serving her community and supporting veterans.

During her career, she also gave more than 100 speeches to groups who were anxious to hear about the military, her path to success, and veterans especially on veterans and memorial holidays. She recently gave four speeches pertaining to her book and then she presented every attendee a free autographed copy.

Renowned for her leadership, Ms. Astafan's contributions have been recognized through several awards, including being named Small Business Owner of the Year by the Girl Scouts of the United States of America and receiving the prestigious Bronze Star from the U.S. Air Force. These accolades highlight her impact both within and beyond her professional sphere.

Looking ahead, Ms. Astafan remains committed to honoring the memory of her late son through her writing. She is currently working on her next book, "His Influence Lives On," which she plans to complete by the end of 2025. The book will chronicle her son's courageous battle with acute myelocytic leukemia, a journey marked by strength, perseverance and love. Through this deeply personal work, Ms. Astafan hopes to celebrate her son's life, offer solace to other families facing similar trials and continue her mission of inspiring others.
