Ms. Guido has established herself as a distinguished researcher in the field of Alzheimer's Disease performing preclinical research and development in the anatomy and pathology lab. She has over 20 years of experience performing research at the bench. Her expertise has also been evident in her ability to design and implement the buildout lab space and imaging facilities. In addition, much of this work was accomplished while being a dual employee working for both Elan Pharmaceuticals and Janssen Alzheimer's Immunotherapy. Ms. Guido's expertise in this field is widely recognized due to her dedication and longevity in the industry.
Beginning her career as a research assistant at Athena Neurosciences from 1992 to 1996, Ms. Guido honed her skills in scientific research. At Elan Pharmaceuticals she continued her work as a research associate between 1996 and 1999 before advancing to staff research associate until 2004. Ms. Guido was promoted to senior research associate due to her dedication and proficiency. In 2006, she became an associate manager at Elan Pharmaceuticals. Continually progressing, she became the manager of anatomy and pathology at Elan Pharmaceutical from 2011 to 2012.
Her work involved pathology tasks such as the development of multiplex immunofluorescent staining paradigms in a valid transgenic mouse model of AD-like pathology. Her contributions were instrumental in laying the groundwork for initial treatments and then developing the first Alzheimer's vaccine.
During her tenure at Elan Pharmaceuticals, Ms. Guido was also an associate manager at Janssen Alzheimer Immunotherapy Research and Development from 2009 to 2012. Here she determined the temporal relationship of treatment-related amyloid clearance, microhemorrhage, smooth muscle, and elastic layer recovery during acute phases of vascular amyloid clearance.
Ms. Guido's academic background includes a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in avian science from the University of California Davis. Her education has been pivotal in her career success, providing her with a strong foundation in scientific inquiry and research methodologies.
In light of her accomplishments, Ms. Guido has received accolades for her work, including the Award of Excellence from Elan Pharmaceuticals from 2003 to 2004 and an Encore Award from Janssen in 2012. Looking ahead, she plans to continue her philanthropic efforts by supporting middle school science students with laboratory equipment and supplies in impoverished areas. Additionally, Ms. Guido is considering a shift toward writing and publishing, reflecting her ongoing commitment to education.
