Ms. Boykin is a distinguished criminal defense attorney and the owner of the Law Office of Leslie J. Boykin, P.C., which she founded in 2005, and for which she has exclusively practiced since. With over 21 years of experience in her profession, she has established herself as an expert in criminal defense and DWI cases. As a solo practitioner with one employee, Ms. Boykin is privately retained in about half of her cases, focusing on DWI's acquired through her extensive network in the music, restaurant and hotel industries. Additionally, she manages court-appointed indigent work for the United States District Court, Western District, as well as being an attorney approved to accept cases from the Capital Area Private Defender Service in Travis County, Texas. Her work for indigent clients involves taking on a variety of cases, including "Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon" charges, Cybercrime, Cryptocurrency crime, and drug-related offenses. She appears in court approximately four days a week, primarily in Travis County, Texas, and also serves surrounding/contiguous counties.

Ms. Boykin received a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice with a minor in Spanish from Sam Houston State University in 1999 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law Houston in 2004. She also pursued coursework in Sociology and Government at the University of Texas in Austin, Texas.

Ms. Boykin's dedication to her clients and her field is evident through her active involvement in numerous industry-related organizations. She is a founding member of the DUI Defense Lawyers Association, a member of the National College for DUI Defense, as well as the Austin Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the Williamson County Bar Association and the Hays County Bar Association. She has held past directorships with the Austin Bar Association and the Austin Young Lawyers Association and is currently serving in her third year as Criminal Law Section Chair for the Austin Bar. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Bar College, and is in the elite group of only 1/3 of 1% of licensed Texas attorneys who are Texas Bar Foundation Fellows.

Having developed a passion for criminal defense law while coming of age in a small town in East Texas, Ms. Boykin observed racial prejudice and separation between ethnicities. This experience led her to question inequality and sparked her interest in standing up for individuals against oppression by the government. Ms. Boykin finds criminal defense law the most intriguing and enjoyable field, driven by her desire to help individuals facing criminal charges who have the most to lose in the justice system. Since becoming an attorney, she has attributed her success to her genuine care and compassion for her clients, believing they can sense her understanding and recognition of their situations.

In addition to her legal career, Ms. Boykin has significantly contributed to civic organizations. She is a Co-Chair of the middle school writing challenge "Do the Write Thing", a member and volunteer at Bannockburn Church, and is serving her third term as the President of the Circle C Area Democrats.

Ms. Boykin is deeply involved in music. While attending law school, she co-founded a blues rock band and managed it for several years thereafter. Although not a regular band member, she occasionally played keyboard and drums for the band. A lifelong piano player since age three, she was classically trained for over a decade and participated in competitions while growing up.

Ms. Boykin's achievements have been recognized with several awards, including receiving the Austin Young Lawyers' Mentor of the Year Award in 2020 and being named in the Austin Monthly Magazine as one of Austin's Top Attorneys in 2020, 2021 and 2024.
