Mr. Ynostrosa-Travers has dedicated his career to the field of counseling, where he has made significant contributions through his work with the Family Service Association of San Antonio, Inc. Since stepping into the role of clinician III in 2017, he has drawn upon his expertise in crisis intervention, client assessments, and treatment planning to provide compassionate and ethical counseling services to individuals, families and groups. By employing evidence-based practices such as cognitive-behavioral therapy and trauma-informed care, he helps clients achieve meaningful progress. Known for his collaborative spirit and transparent communication, he is dedicated to fostering positive organizational culture and helping colleagues grow in their roles.

Previously, Mr. Ynostrosa-Travers served for 20 years as the clinical director and HIPAA compliance officer at Family Violence Prevention Services, Inc., where he honed his skills in family violence prevention and counseling for survivors of family violence. His work in anger management prevention counseling and bipolar disorder management further solidified his reputation as an expert in these areas. His ability to help individuals improve their communication skills and resilience is a testament to his dedication to ethical counseling practices.

Mr. Ynostrosa-Travers's academic journey began at Blue Ridge Community College, where he earned an Associate of Arts and Science degree in general studies in 1993. It was during this time that he discovered his passion for psychology, which led him to pursue further studies at James Madison University. There, he achieved a Bachelor of Science in psychology, graduating magna cum laude in 1995, followed by a Master of Arts and an Education Specialist degree in counseling psychology in 1998.

In addition to his formal education, Mr. Ynostrosa-Travers holds several certifications that enhance his professional capabilities. He became a licensed professional counselor through the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council in 2000 and later obtained a notary public commission from the Office of the Texas Secretary of State in 2019. His commitment to continuous learning is evident through his completion of a positive psychology course with Coursera Course Certificates in 2015.

Throughout his career, Mr. Ynostrosa-Travers has been actively involved with industry-related organizations such as the American Counseling Association and Chi Sigma Iota. More recently, he joined the San Antonio LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce, reflecting his commitment to inclusivity and community engagement. His early involvement as an emergency medical technician with defibrillation certification at the Harrisonburg Volunteer Rescue Squad from 1986 to 1990 highlights his longstanding dedication to helping others.

Outside of his professional life, Mr. Ynostrosa-Travers enjoys spending time with his three rescue dogs — a Jack Russell Terrier mix, a Chiweenie, and a Shih Tzu Terrier mix — alongside activities such as going to the gym, meditating, and reading. Looking ahead, he intends to continue providing high-quality client care while working with counselors in training, and he is considering writing a book related to his career experiences.
