Mr. Ayoub has established a distinguished career in the field of electrical engineering, marked by his expertise in arc flash analysis, electrical power system protection, design and training. Since 2018, he has served as the founder and principal of Power Studies Group LLC. In this role, he manages all aspects of the business, from client interactions to technical and engineering responsibilities. He assists clients in analyzing their electrical systems, resolving deficiencies and updating their systems. He also issues final report diagnoses and makes recommendations for improvements. Additionally, he has served as an adjunct faculty member at Morgan State University since 2017.
Prior to founding Power Studies Group LLC, Mr. Ayoub was a senior power systems engineer at General Electric Co. from 2000 to 2018, after working as a senior electrical engineer at Exponent Failure Analysis Associates from 1994 to 2000. His early career includes a five-year tenure at another company in Boston, where he began building his foundation in electrical engineering.
Mr. Ayoub's academic background laid the groundwork for his successful career. He earned a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Systems from Northeastern University in 1987, following a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the same institution in 1985. He initially immigrated to the United States from Lebanon for his college education, overcoming significant language barriers upon arrival. Completing his education provided him with the technical knowledge and analytical skills necessary for his professional achievements.
In addition to his professional roles, Mr. Ayoub is actively involved in industry-related organizations. He is a senior member of the IEEE and has contributed to various working groups within the organization. Notably, he was a member of the IEEE 1584 Standard Working Group for Arc-Flash Hazard Calculations from 2002 to 2018 and served as chairman of the Education Committee for the Boston Chapter of the Power Engineering Society's IEEE for one year.
Mr. Ayoub's contributions extend beyond his professional endeavors into civic engagement as a donor and supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. His volunteer work also includes serving on the recruiting committee for the Boy Scouts of America for fifteen years and holding board positions on church councils at Our Lady's Center in Ellicott City, Maryland and Our Lady of Lebanon in Washington, D.C.
As an author, Mr. Ayoub has shared his knowledge through numerous publications on topics such as arc flash mitigation techniques and NFPA 70E requirements. His works have been presented at conferences and published in industry magazines, contributing valuable insights to the field of electrical engineering.
In his personal life, Mr. Ayoub finds joy in spending time outdoors, gardening in his backyard, hiking and camping with his family. He takes immense pride in his family, particularly celebrating his daughter's achievement of earning a PhD. and his two sons finishing graduate school.
