WINTER PARK, FL, July 02, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Peter Berry has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. Dr. Berry's career is marked by a series of impactful roles and achievements, each contributing to his legacy in education and environmental advocacy. Currently, he serves as the president of Green Trees Once More, an organization dedicated to environmental conservation. His leadership in this role reflects his lifelong commitment to sustainability and education, setting him apart from other industry experts in his field. Additionally, Dr. Berry launched SevenCypress.org, the website under Green Trees Once More. The organization focuses on carbon sequestration and habitat rehabilitation through forest restoration.

Since establishing Green Trees Once More in 2023, Dr. Berry's nonprofit has focused mainly on planting trees, which sequester carbon dioxide and produce oxygen. The organization also concentrates on recycling materials, mostly metals. On Earth Day 2024, Dr. Berry and his team successfully planted 300 cypress trees in Central Florida along Lake Apopka, helping to prevent soil erosion and improve water quality.

Before the launch of Green Trees Once More, Dr. Berry was the principal at the Seminole Vocational Education Center (SVEC) in Pinellas County, Florida. Under his guidance, the center grew its veterinary assistance program, added a student-installed photovoltaics system and was recognized as the most energy-efficient school in the district. During this time, Dr. Berry was also involved with SkillsUSA, overseeing a team of students competing in state and national competitions. In 2011, SVEC students won the most medals of any high school with fewer than 400 students in the United States. This further underscored his dedication to vocational training, providing students with opportunities to learn trades such as electricity, air conditioning, cosmetology, agriculture and culinary arts.

Dr. Berry's earlier tenure as the director of Pinellas Technical Educational Center spanned several years. In this role, he was the administrator overseeing adult education, promoting vocational/technical education and apprenticeship programs. Before this appointment, he served as the assistant director at Manatee Technical Center in Manatee County, Florida, for nearly five years, where he implemented programs that mirrored his previous successes in Orange County, Florida.

While in Orange County, Dr. Berry spent five years as the assistant director at Westside Technical Center. During this time, he established a student-installed photovoltaics program that significantly enhanced the school's energy efficiency. leading to substantial reductions in electricity costs, making it the most energy-efficient campus of the then-12th largest school district in the country.

Dr. Berry also enjoyed a decade-long teaching position at Lyman High School in Florida, where he oversaw the Cooperative Diversifies Education Program, which expanded from under 20 to over 300 students who gained valuable work experience in various fields through their participation. Additionally, Dr. Berry's innovative implementation of a biometric attendance system demonstrated his forward-thinking approach to education, as it allowed him to take attendance while being out helping students. His contributions earned him recognition as the Lyman Teacher of The Year in 1996.

Dr. Berry's educational career began at Inverness Middle School from 1972 to 1978. During that time, a class project for recycling resulted in a group of 14 students traveling to Washington, DC, to see the Smithsonian and meet with Senator Lawton Chiles, former Governor of Florida. Except for one tank of gas, the entire week long trip was paid for by recycled trash.

Another notable experience at Lyman involved Dr. Berry's participation in the Sister Schools Project, where Lyman High School was paired with a high school in Kazakhstan. A teacher from the Kazakhstani school brought five students to visit the U.S., and later, Dr. Berry took five students to Almaty for two weeks. The visit involved flying to Moscow and then on to Almaty, Kazakhstan—at the time, a newly independent state of the former Soviet Union.

In 1997, through a program with the Friends of the Fulbright, Dr. Berry went to Japan for two weeks. There, he educated U.S. teachers about Japan so that they could return and share their knowledge with students, ultimately reducing the negative stigma against the Japanese that had persisted since WWII.

Also notable was Dr. Berry's work with MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving), in which, on two occasions, he took a student to the National Conference in Washington, D.C. for several days to tour the capital and visit representatives in Congress to seek stronger laws. Dr. Berry is also the proud recipient of a Disney Teacherrific Award - High School Category for his work with students in need. Finally, Dr. Berry took the opportunity to "recycle life." Over a period of several years, he donated both whole blood and apheresis (platelets). After 800 donations, he became the fifth person in Central Florida to have reached 100 gallons.

Dr. Berry served his country on active duty in the U.S. Army as a major from 1986 to 1989 and continued as a reservist for over 25 years. During his active duty, he was an assistant professor of military science at the University of Central Florida, where he utilized his GI Bill benefits to earn a Doctor of Education in 1994. Dr. Berry obtained a master's degree from the University of Florida and a bachelor's degree from Florida Southern College.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Dr. Berry has been actively involved with several civic organizations over the years, including his local chamber of commerce and the Foundation for Seminole County Public Schools. He is also associated with the University of Central Florida Federal Credit Union. Moreover, Dr. Berry engages in activities such as recycling metals to save the production of carbon dioxide produced in manufacturing and providing wildlife habitats. Looking ahead, he envisions creating an arboretum on a 225-acre property in Virginia with educational elements like QR codes for visitors to learn about different tree species and how they can help the climate crisis.
