MARSHFIELD, MA, July 02, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Larry Asaro has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Marked by significant achievements and contributions to multiple fields, Mr. Asaro has cultivated a distinguished career in architecture and the creative arts. Currently, he is the artist and owner of A Left Handed View in Marshfield, Massachusetts, a position he has held since 2017. This venture allows him to pursue artistic expression through photography using a camera as a tool much as he has used pencils and brushes to draw and paint and express his artistic vision. Having retired after an extensive career in architecture, he happily participates in fellow artists' exhibitions and produces solo shows for guests to enjoy.
Prior to establishing A Left Handed View, Mr. Asaro served as a senior associate and architectural department head at Symmes Maini & McKee Associates (SMMA) in Cambridge, Massachusetts, from 2000 to 2016. During this time, he honed his expertise in building construction technology and developing standards for building materials. His ability to solve problems effectively and collaborate with clients, engineers and contractors has been a hallmark of his career often using his visualization and graphic skills to illustrate building solutions.
From 1996 to 2000, Mr. Asaro was the director of interior architecture at DTS Shaw Associates, now known as Perkins&Will. In this capacity, he demonstrated his adeptness at designing spaces that met clients' needs, particularly for laboratory environments. His leadership was crucial in managing complex projects such as the development of a hospital in Asmara, Eritrea, and collaborating with Korean engineers on design work. Earlier in his career, he held the position of vice president at Caudill Rowlett Scott (CRSS) Inc from 1985 to 1989 and director of production and field services at Environmental Planning and Research from 1980 to 1985. His work on major law firms and corporate headquarters in Los Angeles stands out as some of his most challenging yet rewarding projects.
Mr. Asaro's equally accomplished academic background laid a strong foundation for his architectural and artistic success. He earned a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Miami in 1973 and an Associate of Science in architectural engineering technology from Wentworth Institute of Technology in 1969. In honor of his outstanding achievements in architecture and design, he was awarded an honorary bachelor's degree in architecture from Wentworth Institute in 2019.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Mr. Asaro was actively involved in a variety of industry-related organizations. He was a member of the Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC) and Multi-Hazard Mitigation Council at the National Institute of Building Sciences from 2005 to 2017 and participated in multiple building technology committees with ASTM International (formerly the American Society for Testing and Materials) from 2000 to 2017. His commitment to civic engagement and animal welfare is equally evident through his support for the National Audubon Society and his role as a fundraising volunteer for the WUMB Boston radio station at the University of Massachusetts since 2012.
Mr. Asaro's creative pursuits extend beyond architecture into writing and exhibitions. He has authored several self-published works including "When You Can't Afford to Pay Attention" and "Yard Works," both released in 2024. His photography exhibitions such as "Surface and Form" (2021) and "Out of Water, Abstracted Buoys" (2019) showcase his artistic vision and unique manner of capturing life's finer details, many inspired by his childhood experiences and his extensive career in architecture. His artistic endeavors have been recognized with numerous awards, including the Ros Farbush Memorial Award for Color at the 47th Festival of the Arts by the North River Arts Association in 2024.
As he looks toward the future, Mr. Asaro aims to explore new avenues for his artwork's reach. He is also interested in writing about the science of doodling and its connection between mind, hand and eye.
Along with his passion for photography, Mr. Asaro enjoys playing the guitar, painting, sculpting, traveling and playing hockey. A proud father of three children and grandfather to six grandchildren, he remains dedicated to expanding his storied artistic endeavors while balancing his family life and personal interests.
