LIBERTYVILLE, IL, July 03, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Catherine Barnes has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Ms. Barnes has spent over two decades transforming facilities operations into scalable, high-performance programs for Fortune 500 companies and leading healthcare organizations. As chief executive officer of OnPoint Strategic Partners, she now leverages that expertise to elevate the facilities management industry, bringing strategic insight, operational rigor and long-term value to service provider partners, private equity firms and multi-site operators alike.
Ms. Barnes' career is marked by numerous professional milestones. She has led some of the largest facilities programs in the U.S., managing capital and operational projects exceeding $320 million annually. Her leadership has guided national efforts in multisite operational long-term strategy, energy sustainability and emergency preparedness.
In 2025, Ms. Barnes launched OnPoint Strategic Partners, a firm committed to modernizing the facilities landscape for national facilities management (FM) service providers and multi-site investors. Her five-phase method, which spans strategy design, implementation and long-term optimization, has quickly positioned the firm as a trusted name in the evolving FM consulting space.
Moreover, under Ms. Barnes' leadership, Dogtopia of Arlington Heights, which she co-owns with her husband, exceeded $1 million in revenue by its third year, a testament to her ability to scale operations with strategic vision.
At Rite Aid from 2021 to 2024, Ms. Barnes served as vice president of facilities and energy, adding store development to the department in 2025. There, she led the integration of facilities management, store design, capital planning and sustainability. She previously served as director of facilities planning, design and construction at Access Community Health Network in Chicago from 2017 to 2021. From 2011 to 2017, she held progressive leadership roles at Walgreens, including senior director of asset management. Her career in corporate facilities began at Target in 2009, where she discovered a lasting passion for the industry.
Ms. Barnes attributes her unwavering work ethic and drive to two key mentors: her grandfather, known for his mastery in golf and deep commitment to discipline running one of the top dental lab facilities in the U.S., and her mother, who worked full-time and attended night school while raising a family to reach high achievements in the human resources industry. These early examples of perseverance and sacrifice leading to top success profoundly shaped Ms. Barnes' leadership style and personal mission.
Ms. Barnes' path began at the University of Louisville, where she paused her studies to earn her real estate license. She later completed an Associate of Arts in interior design in 1999 and a bachelor's degree in marketing in 2003 from Sullivan University, all while working full-time, a reflection of the grit and determination that continue to define her career.
Ms. Barnes is committed to giving back as she continues to make an impact on her industry. A fierce advocate for industry connections and mentorship, she served as the chair of the ConnexFM board of directors from 2024 to 2025, where she launched the widely celebrated One Degree with the Chair initiative. The monthly series spotlighted industry leaders and emphasized how a single professional connection can transform a career.
Ms. Barnes currently serves on the board of directors for the Connex Foundation, which supports communities through FM impact projects. She is also a passionate supporter of veterans' causes, and through a partnership with the Dogtopia Foundation, her business has sponsored six service dogs for veterans to date.
Looking ahead, Ms. Barnes is committed to the continued growth of OnPoint Strategic Partners, where she aims to shape the future of facilities management through scalable strategy, service provider alignment and private equity portfolio innovation. Her long-term vision is anchored in industry transformation, mentorship and advancing opportunities for the next generation of skilled trade and young FM professionals.
Beyond her work in FM, she continues to cultivate growth at Dogtopia of Arlington Heights, with aspirations to expand beyond a single location and contribute to the growing brand as a recognized top leader in the pet services industry.
Adding to her dynamic career, Ms. Barnes is also an innovative inventor with a patent currently pending that aims to revolutionize passenger safety in the automotive industry. She is also a founding member of lvl360, an emerging AI-driven platform transforming how organizations optimize operations across the business lifecycle—a testament to her forward-thinking mindset and commitment to creating meaningful, cross-industry solutions.
Whether building businesses, mentoring teams or pioneering new ideas, Ms. Barnes remains a passionate leader committed to progress, purpose and the power of transformation.
