Dr. Matera's journey in educational leadership began as an assistant principal at Littleton Elementary School District in Arizona from 2007 to 2011. His ability to engage with teachers through classroom observations and coaching sessions laid the foundation for his future roles in administration. Subsequently, in 2016, Dr. Matera became an administrator at Muskego-Norway School District in Muskego, Wisconsin, further advancing his leadership skills.

Before stepping into administrative positions, Dr. Matera served as an instructional coach in the Laveen Elementary School District from 2006 to 2007. His passion for supporting teachers was evident as he modeled effective teaching strategies and engaged in coaching conversations focused on best instructional practices. This experience was pivotal in guiding him toward a career in educational leadership. Dr. Matera began his career in education in the classroom, teaching seventh-grade mathematics for two different school districts between 1999 and 2006.

Dr. Matera's academic achievements have significantly contributed to his success. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education from Arizona State University since 1999, a Master of Education in educational leadership from Northern Arizona University since 2001, and a Doctor of Education in teacher leadership from Walden University in 2010.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Dr. Matera is actively involved in civic organizations and community activities. He serves on various committees at Winona State University, including faculty search and curricular committees. Additionally, Dr. Matera is a school board member in Pine Island, Minnesota, and coaches summer baseball for his sons' traveling teams.
