Now a retired senior federal law enforcement executive, he has since launched Harris Vanguard in 2025, where he focuses on leadership training and facilitating philanthropic events that support and uplift veterans and first responders.
Before founding Harris Vanguard, Mr. Harris served with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service from 2008 to 2025. Beginning as a postal inspector, he advanced to executive inspector in charge of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service from 2021 to 2025. During his tenure, he led a team of over 150 employees in enforcing 200 different federal statutes that protect communications and commerce in the U.S. He also managed response teams and maintained effective communication with stakeholders, including local senators, members of Congress, and the media. Furthermore, Mr. Harris's responsibilities included overseeing field enforcement activities in Southern California, covering narcotics, homicide, robbery, bombings, burglary and other postal service-related issues. His expertise in covert electronic surveillance earned him the role of national program manager for several years.
Mr. Harris's career in federal law enforcement began with the Drug Enforcement Administration as a special agent from 2004 to 2008. Before transitioning to federal service, he served as a veteran service representative at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs while pursuing his advanced degree.
In preparation for his future, Mr. Harris earned a Bachelor of Science in psychology with a minor in sociology from Old Dominion University in 1992, a Master of Business Administration at Butler University in 2002, and a master's degree in military studies from the Command and Staff College at Marine Corps University in 2006. In addition to his formal education, he is a certified Maxwell Leadership team member and holds certifications from Scrum Alliance Inc., including Certified SAFe Scrum Master and Certified Scrum Professional-Product Owner. Mr. Harris is also an instrument-rated pilot certified by the Federal Aviation Administration.
A retired lieutenant colonel, Mr. Harris served with the U.S. Marine Corps for 30 years between 1990 and 2020, including 10 of those years on active duty. His military career was distinguished by roles such as USMC field historian and officer recruiter. He carried the American flag into combat zones as a Marine Corps officer, a moment he considers one of his proudest achievements. Mr. Harris's military service instilled in him the values of discipline and resilience that have guided his professional journey.
Mr. Harris's dedication extends beyond his professional roles to civic involvement. He volunteers with organizations such as the Travis Manion Foundation and the Boulder Crest Foundation, supporting veterans and first responders who have experienced trauma.
Beyond his essential body of work, Mr. Harris has become an actor, author, speaker and supporter of the performing arts. His influence across various creative projects in film, television and media has become widely recognized.
In recognition of his success, Mr. Harris's contributions have been honored with awards such as the National Hero Award from the Combined Federal Campaign in 2021 and the Chief Postal Inspector Award in 2022. He credits much of his success to the influence of his father, Captain Carroll Harris, who served in the U.S. Navy.
