Before joining Citigroup, Dr. Morse held the position of the first managing director and head of commodity research at Credit Suisse between 2010 and 2011. His tenure as managing director at Louis Capital Markets from 2008 to 2010 also helped solidify his reputation as an energy strategist.

Dr. Morse's career trajectory included several significant contributions earlier in his career, notably as a managing director at Lehman Brothers between 2006 and 2008, where he organized the firm's first commodities strategy group, and as the chief economist at Hess Energy Trading Center from 1999 to 2006. His earlier roles include serving as a publisher at Energy Intelligence Group from 1988 to 1999 and co-founding the Petroleum Finance Company in 1988. Dr. Morse's experience extends to international affairs, having served as the head of international affairs at Philips Petroleum Company between 1981 and 1983 and as a deputy assistant secretary of state for energy and sanctions from 1977 to 1981.

In addition to his professional achievements, Dr. Morse has been influential as an advisor to the United Nations Compensation Commission in Iraq and has provided counsel to the U.S. Departments of State, Energy, Defense, and the Treasury, as well as the National Security Council and International Energy Agency on issues related to oil, natural gas and financial flows impacting energy prices. His insights have been sought after by numerous media outlets, where he has frequently been interviewed and featured.

Dr. Morse's academic background is equally impressive. He received a bachelor's degree in comparative literature and economics in 1963 and a master's degree in comparative languages and literature in 1964 from Johns Hopkins University. He also received a master's degree in international relations and international economics from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in 1966 and a Doctor of Philosophy in political economy from Princeton University in 1969.

Recognized for his contributions, Dr. Morse was named a fellow of the International Association for Energy Economics in Japan and as an honorary fellow of the U.S. Association for Energy Economics. His civic involvement includes serving on the board of directors for the Erick Hawkins Dance Company and the American Ballet Theater.
